Promoting Macro Play -- Turret Seige is the best mission yet
Teamwork - Turret Siege: Destroy 2 turrets within 15 seconds of each other. Does not include nexus turrets.
At first glance, this mission looks like Riot's trolling us. It's fairly difficult to pull off and it's not something you'd normally try to do in order to win (the opposite, actually, since it creates an incentive to avoid taking a low hp turret). That's because this mission isn't about the goal, it's about the steps you need to take on the way.
There's really only 3 ways to complete this mission:
1. Push multiple lanes at once (during laning or by splitpushing, later)
We've all been here (shuffle the roles if you don't play top):
You're pushing top. Suddenly, their jungler, mid, and support appear in your lane. You make it back to tower, but that doesn't stop the 4v1 dive. That's ok, though, because you drew a ton of pressure, letting your team... *looks around * *...farm their lanes and jungle like nothing happened. *
It's impossible to take 2 cross-map turrets within 15 seconds without creating cross-map pressure. Even if the attempt to complete the mission fails (because the enemy team defends one tower), there's a good chance you'll get the other -- a great opportunity for people to learn through experience how effective cross-map pressure is.
2. Group and rush down 2 towers in 1 lane
Often everyone will go back to doing their own thing, after grouping for an outer turret. But if you act quickly and as a team, you can sometimes snag another turret before the enemy has a chance to rotate (particularly if you got a kill or have Herald). Two towers in 15s gets you thinking about this.
3. Group and take an inner or inhib turret, then quickly rotate for another
This only works if there's a wave hitting the second tower at the right time; it's a way to get teams thinking about wave control.
I think I'd prefer if this mission weren't premade-only, and it could definitely use some fine-tuning so it doesn't encourage you to leave towers standing at low hp. Overall, though, I'm very excited for this direction and hope to see more events of this kind!
