@Riot How to make/balance champions based on one you've already made
With all the balance ups and downs, i thought it ironic that you, Riot, already have the perfect champion that you model every other champion or future champion. That champion is Diana. Why? Let's look.
Diana: 1) Theme. Everything FITS to her. Diana's a priestess of the Moon. Thus, everything in her kit to her and her story. Her Q is shaped like a crescent. Her W shield balls look like the moon. The moon has a lunar pull, aka her E is a pull. Her ultimate has MOONLIGHT and interacts with her Q and that crescent shape. Even her weapon, if you read the description of the weapon, is about the moon
Diana's weapon, the Moonsilver Blade is a "reverse khopesh", making it a stylized scythe, alluding to it being a metaphorical reaping tool, alluding to the harvest, another aspect of the moon.. and also the murder of the Solari elders in her case whom she "reaped"
2) Uniqueness. Diana has an interesting weapon and abilites that only can be described to her. Her weapon: It's a "stylized scythe". Who else has that? Her abilites: Her Q, it's a crescent shape. It presents an interesting way of aiming and allowing for other people to dodge. Her ultimate (after the buff) allows you to regain your dash ONLY if you hit a target with your Q, which gives you options on how and when to use it. Her story: has a clear and concise reason for her reasoning on joining the league of legends and the story is also interesting because it mentions another character that you tie into when you play: Diana vs Leona
3) Her kit and abilites Her kit is clear and concise without being too muddled. She has tools to be an assassin/bruiser or a tanky without all being over done. Passive: Gives her ONE steroid and extra magic damage that thematically ties into her aka she slows white when she builds up three attacks. Helps her be a melee champion Q: Fair ranged poke spell. Interacts with her ultimate in a good way. It's cooldown is perfect. W: Gives her some damage and a good shield. Another good example of cooldown, it's not too short to be ridiculous but not too long to useless E: Short range pull of all enemies around her. That's it. It doesn't do anything else.
R: It allows her to get a gap closer, and presents interesting ways of using it with her Q if she uses it on moonlighted targets. She can't over use it.
To sum it up: She can do a few things well without her kit being overloaded with steroids and unnecessary things while still all being in line with her theme
4) "Strategic diversity Diana has clear phases of the game and has her drawbacks
Early: Diana needs to hang on untill 6. If she falls down early it can take a bit to get back up.
Mid: This is where she hits her power spike. She either a) gets enough damage to follow up or b) has enough to be tanky and help the team
Late: Can be really bursty or really tanky, providing either great damage potential or great utility and tankyness without being overbearing
Diana can get stopped by: good positioning and CC. If you dodge her Q she can't dash twice, and even if she does she has nothing else to really gap close if you hard her CC once or twice. If she's going tanky she can survive and help do some damage but the damage isn't too much if she's not building for it. If she goes damage she can burst down champions but doesn't have much right after she uses her full combo and sacrifices the health needed to stay in fights long.
Diana can be played in three roles: top mid and jungle, and can be built a few different ways depending on what the team needs.
**TL:DR?
Diana is a well constructed champion that other champions can and should model. Diana has a clear and concise theme. Her abilities and her kit fit that theme and her kit doesn't have anything extra that is kinda unnecessary or doesn't fit her role. This champions phases of the game are clear, and she has obvious downfalls and strengths.**
I really feel that more champions could be more like Diana
