There is something really wrong going on with the balancing process.
Listen to me. In this thread I will give only one example of Riot's very poor decision making, but I am more than sure that there are dozens of the cases similar to this one.
Patch 6.22, Twitch is getting his cloak reworked, his W changed also. Whole change is perceived by most of the players I believe as a buff, I personally think it's just a change in the gameplay of the champion (without pushing him forward or behind), with certain things being stronger and some of them being weaker. It's also the same patch that brings the rework of armor penetration. What happens after the so said changes? Numbers I'm going to list here are not entirely precise, but I think they are reliable to a certain extent. Twitch spikes in his winrate around 56-57%, and his playrate goes up from around 5% into the 15%. What has brought so many players into trying out the champion is the fact that his winrate is so high, also the changes to his invisibility which I think make him easier to play after all. Lethality is garbage, noone uses it in the botlane. All factors considered, it's good time to bust out the rat. Twitch is in his 6.22 state, he is definitely good, not broken in my opinion but maybe im biased.
Patch 6.23, no changes.
Patch 6.24, passive damage nerfed and W mana cost increased. Changes are in, im taking it like a man. At that time they didnt bring much of my attention, since they don't really change what Twitch is in the lategame. What on the other hand is quite weird to me here, is the fact that they nerfed both his damage and utility, instead of aiming for just the utility. While the W nerf was on the PBE, the passive nerf never made it there. Was that ever the case with any champion, where they dont test the change at the PBE at all? Seems very sketchy to me.
Patch 7.2, lethality buff is up. Lethality items buff is up also. Jhin, Varus, and Miss Fortune dominate the soloq.
Now, lets put this all togheter. Twitch is getting changed, no any direct changes to his damage output. He is given better waveclear in sake of his trading. He is getting longer duration on his cloak and some chasing potential, at the same time he is given a circle going around with him, where enemies can detect him. Fair enough, adds up to the gameplay and counterplay. Next patch comes in, his DAMAGE is getting nerfed. There still are no armorpen builds in the sight. There comes yet another patch, revives the armorpen builds, makes them incredibly strong. Im not here to judge whether the lethality builds are too strong or not. In my opinion they are not, but at the same time I am strongly convinced that the Twitch nerf was COMPLETELY unreasonable. I really do not know what led to this decision. Im currently hardstuck in D2, and current meta doesent allow me to play the champion I like at the succesful degree. For the meanwhile of all the patches I listed above, ap supports have been extemely strong, and those combined with lethality ad carries cuck champion like Twitch in the botlane real hard, assuming they are at least decent. If at the time when Riot scheduled Twitch nerfs they knew what they were eventually going to do with lethality, that makes me disgusted.
I really am not asking here for the balance team to bring my champion to the spotlight. More than I care about Twitch, I care about the game's balance as a whole and I'm asking you to put some fucking thought into what you're doing.
