Riot, (specifically ZenonTheStoic) can we PLEASE discuss Taliyah
I should start with hello. I have played League of Legends since season 1 (with breaks in between focusing on school and such), and have been around Gold-Plat since the very beginning (starting to finally climb up now). I've stayed away from the forums for years now; I just haven't really had the need to post my opinions on anything. That being said, I have returned because I really would like to discuss Taliyah. I have been a mid main forever, and I have a big preference to long range mages, usually ones who offer lots of utility. I've mained Morgana since Season 1 and like to think that I had a part in making her popular whenever she was popular (Kappa). Jokes aside, whenever Taliyah was released, I instantly fell in love with her. Really, she is the first champion that I actually love since Lissandra was released. So naturally, I've been spamming her nonstop. I knew that she was strong. I like to think I know how a typical mage should "feel" in terms of damage and sheer ability of what they should be able to do, and I could tell after a few games with Taliyah that she did everything a little too well. That being said, I am disappointed in the decision of both nerfing AND changing her. I am, of course, referring to the W change to "vector casting." That's a load of malarky in my opinion. Taliyah's W is something that is very new and refreshing in this game and is totally unique in the fact that it is a hard CC (push) that you can choose the direction for AFTER casting the spell. I've seen the terms "self-silence" and "self-lockout" being used when referring to the ability, but in all honesty, that's part of the feel she has. She is locked into the animation once she casts the spell, but at the same time, she has the ability to choose which direction she wants enemies being pushed to AFTER she casts the spell, which, again, is a totally unique and cool feature that feels core to her kit and special to her as a character. I disagree with the decision to take this uniqueness away from her. From what I've read, this is happening because "not enough people liked the way it felt." But it's obvious that the people that DO like her kit the way it is, ARE BEING SUCCESSFUL WITH IT... It feels as if you are punishing the players who fell in love with the champion and put the time and effort into learning her and appreciating how she was DESIGNED to feel originally, since this new "vector casting" situation will cause need for nerfing of her E's damage. I understand that she is too strong at the very moment, and is in need for nerfs, but I see that this changing to "vector casting" is considered as a buff to her. I couldn't think that is further from the truth. You are taking away uniqueness of a champion, as well as changing something that was central to a kit that MANY players have ALREADY gotten to know and love (the ability to knock someone in the direction of their choosing after the spell was cast). This is not a buff, this is a nerf. I am disappointed that Riot has made the decision to cater to players who choose to not put in the time and effort to figure out and master this difficult champion that, in my opinion, IS SO WELL MADE. Never in my 7 years of playing League of Legends has a champion been REMADE to such an extent only weeks after the initial release. I am disappointed, I am frustrated, and I feel cheated.
