why is it that cleanse works on everything but suppression?

You always need to have counters to counters. Cleanse is the counter to CC, so suppression is the counter to cleanse.
The counter to suppression? QSS or Bashee's Veil.
Suppresses are this way due to spaghetti code. They count as debuffs but not CC, so cleanse which only cures Sumspell debuffs and CC won't work on it.
