As a Jhin 'main', this champ is pretty broken

I'm usually not a good player, my KDA is trash on almost every champion, however I've been doing reaaalllly uncharacteristically well with Jhin in Ranked. I almost always win lane, and generally the longer the game goes on the better I do. It's extremely rare for me to not end with at least an S- and most damage dealt (which I know is a terrible measure of skill, but still...), I'm surprised this champion isn't banned 100% of the time.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Jhin is completely overpowered, but I've noticed it takes very specific team comps and a lot of coordination to fare well against Jhin, most of them involving heavy dive and CC (and let's be honest, which ADC does that not counter?)

Numbers can always be reworked, but Jhin is mechanically broken. Here's the way I see it:

  • His Synergy with literally anyone and their mother is too strong. I always max Snare first and when I combo it with my support it's basically like 3-5 seconds of hard CC on a single target. The snare is also relatively easy to land especially if it's through a trap, so I can initiate with it and have a slower skill-shot like Morgana's snare follow up which is obviously cancer. Mid/Late game the snare is abusively strong at catching out opponents. IMO ADC's shouldn't have this level of utility; Ashe sacrifices a LOT of damage and mobility to have the utility she has, meanwhile Jhin's W alone is comparable, if not better, than Ashe's ult and he sacrifices next to nothing.

  • He's too good at trading in lane because he's so heavily loaded with Burst and Kite. The only bot lanes Jhin struggles against are super mobile heavy dive combos AKA Lucian who I can easily ban out. There are other ADCs that can fight Jhin like Vayne/Draven, but it takes a really skilled Vayne to beat my mediocre Jhin, so in other words never.

  • He's too good at kiting. 9/10 times Attack Speed is a detriment, it drastically increases the APM requirement to orb-step effectively and it also means unless you're constantly in the fight smacking fools you're not going to be even close to your maximum potential. Orb-stepping with high AS is what makes champs like Vayne hard, but meanwhile Jhin obviously ignores the need for Attack Speed, and his AA animation is hilariously fast. Not to mention he runs as fast as Yi.

  • For what I assume is an immobile artillery-style sniper, he runs really really fast. Combined with his low AS, it means there's no way you're going to kill Jhin without hard CC and dive.

  • His Synergy with Deathfire Touch is too damn strong, especially since his ult spawns a trap on kill.

  • He gets to build Essence Reaver for 'free'. ER has very obvious ups and downs for most ADCs like Lucian or whatever, but for Jhin the pros heavily outweigh the cons.

  • His ult is so stupid it deserves his own bullet list:

Curtain Call:

  1. The hitbox is so inaccurate it's actually hilarious. I know Riot hasn't had a track record for being good at coloring inside the lines, but Jhin Ult can land like an entire inch outside of the indicated range, both out the far end of the ult and to the sides.

  2. The slow is absolutely crazy. When Jhin ults it basically forces the enemy team to all-in because there's no backing out against Jhin's ult. If Jhin's team ever gets the upper hand in a team fight, the enemy either has to take a bunch of free deaths trying to disengage, or they commit to a full-wipe.

  3. The 4th shot does WAY to much unexpected burst. I get that it's supposed to be a finisher, but it can easily kill a squishy from like over half health.

These are just my opinions, but feel free to discuss.

IMO he has way more utility than he should have.

I would have liked to see Riot put more focus on his unique AA mechanic, but it just seems like the cherry on top of the rest of Jhin's kit.

The fact that Jhin is the only immobile squishy that performs well in higher ELO says a lot about his strength as a champion if he can succeed in a meta immobile squishies are generally weak in.

Not in this meta fam. Any assassin (or anybody with mobility) can shut down a Jhin. His ability to kill squishy targets at a range is an intended strength and is a refreshing change from the current mobility creep.

It's sort of like playing Kog'maw mid. Or kog at all for that matter.

If your team is shitty they will drag you down. I know, I've been experiencing it after trying playing solo after being in a trio queue for a while.

PLOT TWIST: his ult is not an execute ulti. It's an engage.

Problem I have, is they say mobility is a weakness...but:

  1. He's strong with Youmuu's (Speed buff) plus bigger crits.
  2. He has 'free wards' essentially to mitigate dive potential. Let's face it, a dive that you see coming is far more easy to avoid.
  3. Has a root to stop someone if they fail a dive.
  4. Has slow.

Problem with Counterplay(as riot always loves to say each champion should have:

  1. Ult counter is:

  2. Big body absorb...i.e. give up free damage.

  3. Dodge...but he has a slow to follow up hits. (Maybe if you remove the slow?)

  4. (Get out of range?....I'll get back to you!)

  5. Bard <---maybe the best and only reliable answer.

  6. Free crits = known window of when its safe to trade. Meaning you always get the edge on most trades. Why most bottom team fights I see always end with flash (Q), auto crit for the insane burst. Sure Ashe has 'free' crits too but its scaled to make her ramp up. Unlike Jhin for the most part.

  7. When he gets rolling, especially with lethality. He stay's rolling. Can't count how many fights start or end with Jhin ult at which time your basically 5v4 or 5v4.5.

Let's face it, in terms of utility, damage, ability to spot out incoming ganks, ability to engage this champion has all of them in the right hands. And he only gets better paired with a good support. (No other ADC can honestly say their support can be 'meh' and get away with it as much until after the laning phase.)
