Maybe you should actually have to kite a little, supplemented by your passive instead of just completely being able to backpedal by holding a button down with your passive.
No one said you have to use your passive to get away from every instance. You still have that ability everyone does to WALK... and you've got a free dash on top of your Q's dash.
You can't tell me she isn't gaining anything from kiting backwards since she's never had a problem closing the gap to train people down. That's essentially what the change was. She is now way more consistent to play around. She runs away just as good as she catches up to people, but likely better if her purpose is not to chain spears for a stack, rather actually surviving the get away. Most adcs walk away from powerful enemies, not start kiting them to completely flip a table with an infinitely stacking nuke.
Like dayum. No one is stopping you from straight up walking away with the purpose to walk away and -maybe- getting some harass off. But hell yes your gonna get more harass off since your hop is more efficient for dealing damage while moving. Just learn to play with it and she's still the same stupid adc with infinitely stacking nuke/slow, percent hp magic damage and free offensive repositioning.
Kalista has never been consistent with her toxic kit and she still has it. Hooray! I think this champ is garbage and I will agree this did nothing to improve her real problems... but you can't tell me she's unplayable if you enjoy her kit as it is. The real change is how less unpredictable it is for an enemy adc to position against you. That's a nerf, but means you have to be that much better with her mechanics and adapt to this slight change. It's changed quite a few times now so this isn't surprising.
