PSA Rank Q
This post is about Q'ing rank unprepared
I'd like this post to clarify and hopefully you guys see my perspective. What is being unprepared for rank?
1.) Not ready to fill, more commonly supp/jg. If you go into games whining and asking for trades every time you get fill, its your own fault. We used to not have such an awesome champ select (instalockers), so it behooved us in the past to have at least one or two champs in all roles. This is still true now. Honestly, learning all five roles makes you a better player anyway. Autofill is not an excuse for you to play poorly because you don't know how or don't want to. So if you go into rank not prepared to play all roles, you probably shouldn't be in rank.
To One or Two-trick mains: The fill applies to you too. If you really can't take the above advice or don't want to, I suggest you dodge. You may eat a delay timer, but you'll be sparing yourself and your team a disadvantageous position.
Getting flamed for playing bad isn't ok, but entering unprepared raises the chances of people getting pissed at you for not doing well. The bottom line is if you aren't coming in with your A game, you probably shouldn't be in rank. These few things tie into my main point:
2.) Not having the right mentality for rank: A.) Not treating rank different from other game modes. Rank is for being serious and taking your best skills you possess to the game as CONSISTENTLY as possible. There are people that treat it like any casual game. If this is you, you are doing yourself and your team a great disservice by even being in the mode B.) People who recognize rank for what it is take it seriously: If you're goofing around or really don't care about the win, you're pretty much trolling anyone who you got into rank with. You need to be real with yourself, if you just want to have fun, get kills etc, go to norms draft. same game structure, less pressure C.) Since we've established rank is about testing consistency and skill, new champs/builds are a bad, bad idea and you're lowering your chances of winning. You're unprepared for rank if you can't play from behind either. Your champ can't win every match up inherently, so playing from behind is an essential skill base for rank. If you say "GG" or "FF at 20" or whatever at any point in rank, you're out of your league (haha puns). Surrender drops your points on the ladder more than otherwise. Suggesting early surrenders and that the game is over because of a few deaths is ignorant and will piss off any of your allies who are in the real rank mentality. In addition, if you dont want to play long games and work for that comeback, you shouldn't play rank D.) Being unprepared includes how you plan to treat other players. If you just can't help but tell people off or are focused on the misplays of other players, Don't q up for rank. Rank is about winning. Your chances decrease when you purposely try to tell off another person. Also, even if you mean well and are just trying to guide your team, you're wasting time typing. Learning lessons on how to play should come from other game modes. Rank is the test of those lessons. You don't discuss lessons during the test. You don't turn to your classmate and blame them for you scoring low either, do you?
^^I learned these the hard way. I've been that asshat ranting during rank like I REALLY know the best plays at all times. I was unprepared and wrong.
3.) Tilting If you agree/practice above points, this is still for you too. You're human. If you lose a bunch you'll get frustrated. Stay off rank during losing streaks and when you're tilted cuz you may drop your rank mentality.
Im making this hoping it helps the community. Opinions and counter opinions welcome
