How Thresh could have been changed in 6.13
One of his main problems is that he seriously struggles in a poke/mage support meta. Champions like Zyra and Karma basically removed him as a viable pick at worlds last year. His lack of armor per level combined with having to collect souls means that he has to constantly put himself in a position to eat free poke if he wants to keep up with everyone else in the game. The buffs he was given in 6.13 just made him even more dependent on the exact mechanic that made his bad matchups so bad in the first place, and those bad matchups were the primary reason for his absence.
I think it would have been a better idea to increase the range from which he can pick up souls slightly. Just enough to make it so that punishing him isn't basically free, but not so much that the act of collecting them doesn't present any risk.
