help a bronzie really understand his MMR

i have found all sorts of mixed information so I was hoping I could start a thread that would help me sort it out. I recently discovered LoLKing and have been paying attention to the updated match history. (love it btw riot, thx!).

I now think I messed up by diving right into ranked at 30, but let me share my LoL history with you. I started playing right after Yasuo was released, it was his splash art on the Log in screen. Had a group of friends that played ranging from Silver - Platinum, most of them floating in Gold. It was a hyperbolic time chamber of sorts. playing with them was WAAAAAAAY harder then my normal games Q'n up by my self! But I learned a lot, and I learned FAST! By the time I hit the big 30 I was crushing games that didnt have any of my regular play mates in them.

Now (almost a year later? ) my ranked stats are 104 wins, 147 losses. My original provisionals places me in Bronze 2. I climbed into bronze 1 if i remember correctly, then it was a dark devastating plummet into the bowels of bronze 5. Quickly i might add. It seems I lose way more LP than I gain, making the climb back out hard.

Over the last 2 months I feel I have made significant improvements in my all around game. I feel like im now winning more then i am losing on average, even though i still have more overall losses then wins. I even feel like I am a significant factor in my wins (as well as my losses :D) Will my IP gains / losses ever even out?

As someone who managed to escape bronze and make it to silver some time ago, here is my advice:

Start by getting a feel for each and every role by practicing with as many champs in each role possible. When you find a champion that you feel you perform best with at that role, set that champion in stone as your main for that role and pick it when possible unless you find yourself counterpicked. In that case, it's also good to have secondary and tertiary (third) best champions as backups for each role. As an example, I perform best when I play Vel'koz. If Vel'Koz can't lane mid because he'll lose to someone like Talon or Leblanc, I make it a point to play Xerath or Veigar instead (respectively). This method streamlines your performance so that you'll be ready for any role with your best options available.

Anyway, if you want a full list of my preferred champions for each role as reference I'll be happy to oblige and answer any questions about them as well.

You'll need to win more than you lose for your LP gains to start picking up. Low LP gains + high LP losses means the system doesn't think you belong in your ranking. Just keep winning and it'll turn around.

One thing ive noticed is your Lp gain will always be lower than your Lp loss UNTIL you beat the 50% win ratio (ex: 100 wins out of 200 games) If you can keep a constant 50%, you will slowly rise, this how I usually work through my divisions, I'm in plat V. If you want advice on how to win more, I can't really think of anything specific except use very very strong low-elo champs that either use difficult counter play concepts like tryndamere or kayle, or use high cc champs like malhpite and amumu.
