Why do we still meta in "wood" league?

I'm doing a little research and I'd love some feedback.

i. Do you watch pro gaming? ii. Do you mimic pro item choices, hero choices, team compositions? iii. Do you feel as though you win more often?

I'll answer my own questions first, feel free to tell me how wrong I am.

  1. All of the time.
  2. All of the time.
  3. No, because a lot of the true meta gaming is over the heads of the wood league players I'm stuck with. I'm using strategies that depend on team going to late game for example, and having to surrender 20 because my support doesn't know what sustain means.

Yes. No, it's a giant waste of time. Yes, because I don't try things that are out of my league and by default, skill level.

  1. No
  2. No
  3. Yes

Because I play the champions I am good at and which fit my playstyle. Not the playstyle of some Korean challenjour.

  1. Occasionally. Maybe one game every couple of weeks.
  2. Not at all. I'll follow a guide when learning a new champion, but I tend to improvise when playing one I'm experienced with.
  3. As compared to what? I do feel that improvising item choices for the game at hand helps me win more often, yes. If you just mean, do I go more than 50/50, I'd say yes in norms when playing alone (not necessarily with friends, since we tend to mess around), no in ranked.

1.Yes 2. I do not let the popular champions in professional play influence my picks, but I try to pay attention to their in-game strategy and decision making, and even their reasons behind picking certain comps, as I believe there is a lot to be learned from it. I just don't feel it necessary to limit my champion pool to match theirs. 3. Not significantly, though its hard to tell if it makes me play better.
