Riot WANTS games to be shorter
That's why towers are weak That's why they made AD champs meta That's why tanks and mages are getting nerfed That's why its so "snowbally" That's why death timers are so long That's why there is a huge gap between viable and non viable champs
rewind about 8 months ago. Every other post was just people complaining that they couldn't play because games last too long. So Riot solved this problem by making objectives faster to destroy and making the champs that take objectives the best (AD champs) strong, while making champs that cant take objectives as fast (tanks and mages) weaker. They made coming back so hard because that draws out the game. They increased death times so enemies have more time to take objectives. They only want champs that melt everything being played so they made assassin burst > mage burst capabilities and gave marksmen the armor and health shred so tanks can no longer sponge up the damage and live.
People's current issues are: tanks and mages are no longer = assassins and marksmen. towers dont offer the protection that they used to. deaths reduce play time. almost impossible to comeback
possible solutions that keep games short: buff/nerf champs so they're more even. (no high-tier and low-tier, only middle-tier) make towers take additional damage based on the attackers ap, armor, mr, and health. (small percentages) tower diving needs some skill aspect to it, for both the attacker and defender. Maybe when an enemy enters tower range, ally minions (ally of the tower) in the towers range get a boost so the diver cant stay as long. Maybe when a tower is destroyed, enemies in its range are stunned for 1 second. have a mini game or something for the dead people to play/to when they are death that maybe rewords them with gold. Its not necessarily that coming back needs to be possible, but that getting stomped needs to be fun. Maybe passive gold income could increase based on lost towers.
I'm not trying to hate on Riot, I just feel like their approach to the "games too long" problem wasn't the best.
