What's with the Mastery Rank reset rumor going around?

I just hit MR7 on Nami maybe a day or two ago, costing nearly a total of 6k BE and apparently Riot's gonna reset Mastery Rank now?

What exactly is going on with the reset thing? Is it true or just a rumor?
