How does Guinsoo's Rageblade work exactly?

I know that once you hit 6 stacks on it, each auto attack triggers on-hit effects an additional time. But I have played Jax with him and sometimes it will trigger my ult passive, other times it won't and I don't understand why. I have tried the item on Xin Zhao and it doesn't proc his crit every other auto attack nor does it proc the heal. I cannot understand this either. I thought it was supposed to trigger on-hit effects every other auto attack. Am I missing something?

What you're saying should theoretically happen. Jax, with fully charged Rageblade, should proc his R passive every other AA. Same with Xin Zhao, and other on-hit champions like Vayne.

Maybe it wasn't fully charged yet?

Still think Riot should balance Rageblade around having its Phantom Hit passive on at all times. Even if that meant keeping the ramping attacking speed and dropping the ramping AP/AD completely.

Imagine if you had to Crit three times first before IE got its bonus crit damage.

Once it's fully stacked, every other attack counts as two attacks, and it will do it every time for jax's every other attack.

Xin's crit specifically states every third basic attack, but every other hit will heal him.

While I don't have time to look up the specific wording of xin's stuff versus jax's stuff (I don't play either), it's important to distinguish on-attack effects and on-hit effects. A fully stacked rageblade will trigger on-hit effects twice with every attack, but it's not the same as attacking twice. A variety of champs have mechanics that trigger after so many attacks, so the rageblade phantom hit won't help with those (although, the extra attack speed the rageblade gives in raw stats is of course useful).

edit: Looking stuff up - Jax's R passive is on-attack so rageblade doesn't help. Xin's passive is on-hit, so rageblade helps. Xin's W has two parts: The healing part is on-hit, so rageblade helps, but the crit part is every 3rd attack, so rageblade doesn't help.

Seems like people in this thread have been giving you a lot of inaccurate info. The way that Rageblade works with 3 hit abilities is that every other attack counts as 2 stacks. So you attack (gaining 1 stack) and then you attack (gaining 2 stacks) and then you attack (gaining 1 stack) etc etc etc. Hope that helps. It doesn't double proc the on hit damage, it just allows you to gain stacks faster.
