Really confused

I am not sure how to articulate this but I will try. I am bronze 2, I am trying to figure out why in my ranked games I have to go up against people in Silver 3 and be placed with people on my team in bronze 3. I feel that I should go up against under bronzes and climb to silver. I get in b1 to get to silver, maybe beat some other silver people to get in, prove your worth being with them. Then when in silver, go against other people that are in silver.

I am also confused how this really benefits those silver players, because it seems like those players who get to wombo on me and a bunch of other bronzes are getting a free game instead of having to climb against someone in their level and actually improve.

I went against a silver 4 Sej with a bronze 3 wu in jung on my team. I think the discrepancy there is large enough for you to put i another bronze 3 jungle on their team. This isn't a slightly irregular thing.

Can someone explain this?

Riot stopped caring about proper match making is the gist of it, they assume the average player is too stupid to notice the match disparity, it did not used to be like this unfortunately the original person behind match making balance moved onto other things and was clearly replaced with someone who does not know what they are doing.

You're not matched based on your division, you're matched on your player rating derived from your record of games, how you performed win or lose against other players with their ratings. The Sejuani player's negative record result in being placed in low silver/bronze games and your rating from your games gets you placed in those games as well. That's the real gist of it.
