What's the point of healing anymore?

I played a game of nasus and 4/5 enemies had ignite, 4/5 had executioners/morellos,

Then we have kat and kled giving 60% grievous wounds cause why not? Bramble vest AND thornmail both give grievous wounds.

Now healing champs get countered by tanks right off the bat, by damage champs right off the bat, and by ap champions slightly later.

But don't forget vlad is still overpowered even with all this healing reduction. Champions that abuse ravenous hunter are still overpowered. But any champion that has a minor form of sustain is screwed.

If we were to nerf ignite, remove the early and cheap to get grievous wounds, then we would see a rise in these healing champions and then we can nerf their healing accordingly instead of having champions like vlad who are balanced around having their heal be reliable through the healing reduction, so if you didn't get it you auto-lose.

TL:DR nerf or remove several forms of grievous wounds and balance champions sustain and healing around not worrying about grievous wounds

Thing is while I definitely agree on an overabundance of GWs:

  • GWs need to get the F out of Core builds! These Items are meant to counter Heals! NOT to be picked up without thinking!

  • Ignites CD is bad joke! It needs to go back to its old value AT LEAST. (AND without "compensation")

...I have to addres the fact that healing is also massively overused these days.

Starting with Triumph on basicly everyone... Bloodline, Ravenous Hunter, Taste of Blood, Fleet Footwork, Grasp, Conquerer, Biscuits.. the list of heals from runes alone is ridiculous... Pretty much everyone heals randomly mid-fight without ANY form of sustain in Kit OR Items! And with most of this stuff being based on the ever increasing DMG in lategame those formerly small heals can add up to actual sustain you notice and want to counter!

That's the problem, the Champions that HAVE actual Healing are designed for it and not even the issue! Everony else is!

Look at Jax! item 3078 item 3161? "Well he's quite squshy just burst him"... But have you ever seen what a Jax heals in a single fight??? I remeber more than one of them simply facetanking me (on APs!) without taking any noticeable DMG! And this is true for pretty much every single Bruiser out there...

I think BOTH needs to disappear...

4/5 had ignite! Was it a shack or hecarim, if not that means adc had ignite so it should’ve been an easy win bot.

I don't believe that game you played with nasus ever happened.

You're really stretching to come up with items that inflict grievous wounds if you're including bramble vest, a component, along with thornmail. Let's list off some of the champions who have healing and sustain as major parts of their kits

Aatrox - so good he had to be nerfed repeatedly.

Mundo - Consistently top 10 highest winrate in all elos.

Nasus - consistently top 5 highest winrate toplane.

Pyke - Several threads about how his healing is broken currently up

Soraka - consistently top 10 highest winrate support in all elos.

Warwick - better half of all junglers.

"Healing is bad... except for this other forms of healing!"

Most prominent forms of healing are not limited to being in combat.

While grievous wounds is getting annoying, what is even more annoying is lifestealing glass cannon champs that wouldn't gain much from a healing support except for redundancy..

Or being an hp stacker / tank that practically just heals their enemies with large healthpool.

At this point grevious wounds might need more of a rework on how it works than anything else, having a stacking mechanic with it would mean burst heals / non lifesteal spellvamp ones would end up being stronger while sustained healing will be weaker...(don't keep autoing the ramus)

Although that might just make mundo a lot weaker, his R could always use buffs / changes.

Its also pretty awkward for any champion in the game to be able to buy an item that gives you a full bulk of heal reduction upfront with little counter play other than to not take damage in the first place, a stacking mechanic with higher heal max reduction but easier to heal against burst would be nice.

Then you just change things like kled q for example accordingly, now his q gives 1/2 or up to max stacks of grevious wounds.

there is only 3 forms of grievous wounds in terms of items
