Galio's Shield on minions?

So most of us know by now, that Galio isn't played often, and when he is, his shield's healing effect isn't really useful because if he uses it on himself, he'd have to be damaged to be healed. if he uses it on a team mate, THEY have to be damaged for him to be healed. Sure, late game, putting it on the tank or ADC would help him recover some hp, but what about early game?

I'm hoping to see Galio's Shield be able to put on minions, even if it's only cannon minions, or siege minions. and when another minion or turret attacks it, he gains a bit of hp. Thus helping him sustain a little in lane.
