PLEASE, do not release positional matchmaking

Riot's idea with positional matchmaking is it is unfair to get autofilled and then lose the same amount of lp and they want to reward players who play many different roles. However, positional matchmaking will make this game more grindy. I will have to spend more time to get the rank I want. Also, people will just not try when they dont get their main position. They are only gaining/losing 5 lp, whats the point of trying? I am a player who plays all roles. I feel like positional matchmaking will just make this worse as I will have to level up all 5 ranks and play 50 placement games(10 for each role). This will not be fun at all.

So please Riot. Do not release positional matchmaking. The game balance is already in a bad state, dont make matchmaking worse!

I agree they have the right idea with it but the wrong approach. What needs to happen is if you get offroled you are placed with lower MMR people but maintain your same rank, that way the skill gap is more even. Lets get this thread up voted alot cause if their changes go through kids will int even more and rank queues will be somehow more terrible than they are now.

Did you forget they are adding a LP splashing effect if you happen to get offrole? Your main would gain the second most, next to the autofilled position. They are also doing something to placements (I believe you don't fall below a threshold, but can climb higher than it).

The cutoffs for ranked will also be changed so it won't be any more grindy. Remember, the ranked ladder at its core ranks you against the rest of the ranked population and then puts you into a division based on where you are.

The positional matchmaking won't fix all of the problems with ranked but it will be strictly better than what we have now.
