Why the buff on Ryze?

So I just played a game as Ryze and don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the experience. BUT, I don't have any reason to believe he needed the recent buff.

He was just a horror early game and seems a bit too strong. I think of him as a late game monster not early game. I thought he was in an alright place before this last patch. I had a competent team regardless but I am iffy about bringing his Q back. I hope I am wrong because I do enjoy playing as him right now.

I don't know, anyone else have thoughts as to the current state of Ryze?

Ryze became non-existent after his very brutal nerfs. Honestly these buffs are only 15 damage at all ranks. That's not really all that much. It's no where near his damage before his nerfs that put him out of commission.

i jsut played a cho. chos 50 hp each cs regen over shit ryze buffs. he literally got 3 potions off a minion wave. this needs to be looked at. this isnt garens i have to sit back this is im in combat getting free insta potions as i kill you

i think hes bad vs tanks right now, he needed the level 1 Q damage buff to farm under turret.

before the nerf ryze was easily suppressed in lane.

Problem is people where scared of his early game when that is his weakest.
