Where to Push

Ok guys, looking to be enlightened. Here is the scenario in the game, I feel like it happens often.

Your team is doing well overall, and you are are able to win team fights, and put good pressure on towers to push. Should you in this situation continue to advance in one lane, knowing the enemy team cannot stop your advance or go to other lanes as a team taking every turret and inhib in every lane?

To me, if you have the ability to take an inhib or a turret at whim, you take the inhib every time. If top and bot have their inhib turrets, but mid only has an inhib, should you not just take that inhib? And then from there, just take their nexus turrets, and nexus itself?

Or should you push bot and top towers, and not take the mid inhib?

I seem to have this difference in prioritization consistently with others, or at least enough to take notice and find it annoying and unnecessary.

Will appreciate some info of best practice, and I do understand that the situations can vary, I'm just talking in generalitys.
