Laggers guide to lagging RIGHT!

First off if you know you tend to have crappy net that is sometimes crappy get a speed testing tool. For Windows Number 10 I use the windows store app called Network Speed Test. Also given the fact that you probably have access to the internet, or you couldn't be lagging you can use Speedtest.net if you can't be bothered to get an app.

Now just having the app or being on the site is not enough. You have to actually use them. The thing you should be looking at is you're ping. It won't necissarily be an exact reprisentation of your in-game ping, but it will give you an idea and after using it for a while you'll be able to tell what ping to expect in game from the reading on the application. On the Windows Store app I previously mentioned. If I get a ping of 55-80 I can expect to have a ping of around 130~160 on which I know I can play my best. If the app shows me tripple digits or worse Jhin , then I know League is a no-no until either less people are using my net or it just over-all get's less laggy.

Speaking of less people using the net, instead of wasting you're time just checking the ping when you already know that it's laggy because of other users, try to talor your play times around when you know less people are gonna be on it. Or in general try to predict when they'll be using precious bandwidth. If your who-ever decides that they are gonna stream the NBA finals in 4k on your 10Mbs internet connection then don't even chance it if you think you have good ping because you check one time. You'd be suprised how fast your ping can change from 0-1000 on a dime.

But, however, if you do find yourself in a game and you start lagging suddenly for some reason unannounced to you then don't try to play the brave hero or something along those lines. Plain and simply - play like a pussy. Don't try to make big plays or anything, stay back, farm and do what you can. You aren't really in a postion to try to control the flow of the game. If you can farm then that's it. Just farm.

Now here is a references to my experiences with different ping.

060ms - You good. If anything happens or you make a mistake it's on you. You might suck but if you don't then you're good. 60120ms - If you've played in the upper limit of this bracket before you'd have no problems and get used to it pretty easily. 120180ms - See previous 180220ms - Fairly manageable. You can do the things you normally can on champs you're comfortable 220300ms - If it's a champ you have good experience with you can pull through. You have to play kinda safe here. Avoid trades because you'll probably get damaged for free and you might be moving in surprising ways 300400ms - Unless it's your die hard main and you know their combos by muscle memory you should stay away from the enemy laner. Make them push lane if you have to.

*Slingshot bracket - In this bracket your ping frequently swings from a good ping to a less than desireble ping. Even when the upper limit of the sling is relatively low e.g 300ms, it can be much more dangerous than higher ping brackets. I would believe the cause of this is packet loss but I'm too lazy to check. When your ping slingshots the flow of the game will be lost to you. Your teammate will be turtling with you under a tower and before you know it, I mean literally before you can even see it, they ulted into the enemy team and died. When you're net is like this you might experience slight disconnects so watch out for those, too.

400~500ms - you're half a minion disposer and half a decoration. If you can lend you're resources to teamates who can better utilize them then let them have them.

500-550ms - You can throw aoe into clumps of enemies and hope it hits, I guess

550+ms - It's a 4v5 :(

But if you are lagging and you feel like you're a liability to the team their is something you can do. It's time to work on your macro :D. Watch the map like a halk because you kinda have nothing else to do and ward. Alert your team of enemy positions and whatnot. Also you might have to build a bit defensively so you don't get caught out by stray skillshots during short frays.

Well this was kinda salt fueled because I recently had someone who was lagging but didn't stay back so I'm not expecting it to sound extremely cohesive. But I do hope I gave you some useful information.

Enjoy thine time on the rift. Ciao
