Autofill Protection Loss Because someone cancelled

Why is it that when someone cancels a game when I got my primary role and I'm autofill protected, the next game I find I lose my autofill protection? I can play 6 games in a row without getting my primary role because people keep cancelling. That's around 5 hours lost not getting to play the role that I want.
