Yorick's W question

Last night I played a game as Yorick and to be fair it had been a while since I played him however I noticed that his W felt very weird. I have played him since the rework and don't recall an issue with it before however when I would click the W to an area that was out of range but wanted it to be cast there Yorick would walk within the area but cast it as soon as he was in range but not to the designated area. Is that normal? I was talking with some friends who said that Cassiopia works like that as well (But I have never used her before). I've been playing league for a while and this really threw me off. I feel like I haven't run into this with other champs. I play a lot of Morgana who has an AOE as well and it works fine without issue. Just wanting to know whats up with that and if anyone else has had this problem.

Perhaps it is an issue of where the AOE is centered vs where it is cast?

Its also worth mentioning that I was using quick cast but the issue still happened without it on.

Am I going crazy or is this normal?
