What counterplay is there against single target spells? Especially the single target spells that CC you. If you get CC'd by a single target spell, which shouldn't be hard for the enemy to pull off, it makes it easier for the other champions to land skillshots. You can't dodge single target spells.
Put yourself in a position where, even if you were CC'd, the rest of the enemy team wouldn't be able to capitalize. Use spellshields. Be with a teammate that can punish anyone who comes too close. Be threatening enough that the enemy wants to save their targeted spells for escapes. Be tanky enough that they HAVE to use their targeted spells on you, yet they don't make a difference. Play smart.
Without targeted spells, champions with high mobility would be infinitely stronger. Imagine Yasuo when you can't use Malzahar ultimate to lock him down. :/
