Old Cassiopio vs the rework...
Hey guys..
I've been testing the new Cass on the PBE and found that there are some thing I liked, and somethings I missed on the old Cass. I think Riot had a hard time with the Cass rework because quite frankly, they did not know what the community wanted. All that was clear was that the community was not happy with the live state of Cass. But opinions on what she should be were not so clear.
I think what it came down to was some ppl liked spamming E while some liked her as a poison mage.
Anyway, here what I like about the new Cass, and what I will miss...
Her new passive is nice, but I had no problem with her old passive. A lot of ppl argued that it was counter intuitive talking away from the actual focus of the player by forcing them to try to stack it for max power.
I've play old Cass and never really paid attention to stacking the passive. I've always found that it eventually gets fully stacked or level 2 stacked without me even trying. That meant you got an extra 30 percent ap and 25 percent cooldown for free. Now with new Cass, you have to buy a sixth item to get about the same ap and you now have to buy CDR. Sure you get free movement speed, but you also lose that 15 magic penetration from sorc boots. Also keep in mind a sixth item cost more gold for full build. That means more farming and most games just don't last long enough to get six items. Overall, she just lost actual damage, because no more free ap and no more 15 magic pen from sorc boots.
I prefer the old passive, or at best, if the 2 passives were combined and I could still buy boots. So it would look like this
Free ap when fully stacked. no more free CDR but the new movespeed passive. I can still buy boots if i want.
I have no problem with new Cass Q. Just wish it had more range or was easier to land as it is the foundation to everything that is Cass. You will often find your self with no mana in lane because you miss a lot of Qs.
I would keep the new W as it bring a new mechanic and potentially lets you poison a lot more targets.
I'm undecided about her new E. The new E is more forgiving but does less damage, and now needs cdr to spam. That means the need for CDR items just went up.The new E also has potential to burn mana while doing no damage if targets are not poisoned. So player have to be carefull as it can be hard to tell if target is poisoned.
I think riot should have done a better job of identifying a poisoned target. Like how Yasuo get an indication that a target is knocked up. This would lead to a better reaction when you are playing it safe in lane against a Zed. I often fine myself waiting a whole second to confirm if I landed my q before I go in.
I think I liked the old E better because I did not have to get CDR to spam it and it did more damage.
Her ult was untouched. I felt her ult could have used a bit of fine tuning because I've found it can be rather unreliable. This is because there are 2 measures of counterplay around her ult. Firstly, it has a delay and second, target has to be facing Cass in a direct line in order to be stunned. Sometimes it looks like the target is facing you and should be stunned if you ult but don't when you do. This make me think the ult is a little buggy.
Overall, I feel new Cass lost a lot of damage to make up for her new W which can be hard to land and her ult could have used some fine tuning as getting a stun seems iffy.
