Do you find pro matches rather stale/repetitive?
After coming back to LoL after a break, I've been watching some lcs and I've noticed that, though the meta might be different, there's a consistent pattern in place. After watching about 5 games you know what the meta is, what champs the teams will pick/ban, and what the general rhythm of the game is.
Top will see Ornn, Gnar, Gangplank, Vlad. Mid Ryze, Azir, Malz, Zoe. Junglers Sejuani, J4, Zac, Kha,zix, Rengar. Supports Tahm, Braum, Alistair, Ornn, Shen. Carries Varus, Trist, Kalista, Kog
Both teams generally farm up, low levels of aggression until around 25 mins, where a handful of explosive teamfights determines which team has a lead, which will use the advantage in gold and experience to systematically take control of the map and strangle the opposing team until they are strong enough to push and end the game.
Is this sort of stuff just to be expected from professional players who make a living playing this game? In the sense that they will naturally gravitate towards the safest picks and playstyles possible to control as many variables as they can to increase their chances of winning? Of course, high levels of aggression or using different champs have unpredictable outcomes that can directly impact their chances of winning, and therefore the amount of money they make.
Yet I personally find that I quickly lose interest in watching the lcs for this reason. So the question I have to ask is: is this considered a sort of "just the way it is" sort of deal? Or can there/should there be some way to provide incentives towards different champion and playstyle picks? Obviously this is a complex issue with no easy answer, but I figured I'd bring it up to hear what people think of this.
(now nerfed) and fleet footwork stopping bot lane from ever being in danger, at a time when a lead there decides the game. Once ADC defenses get nerfed, and bruisers get a keystone it should become more aggressive, but until then the only region worth watching is LPL because they play with the survival instinct of a depressed zombie 3 days from retirement
