Concerned about the new AP item changes coming up

I am very glad that Riot is deciding to once again take a look at the options that AP mages have to choose from and actually offer some alternatives while changing some current ones, but I think that their current plan is...weird. The overall theme is a reduction in AP while giving a bit of CDR and/or mana to make up for it and to me this is going to do nothing more than to shift AP mages to another lane... or out of the game entirely.

For the most part the AP mages, role is to be able to burst down one or two valuable targets from range. To counter act this they have low movespeeds, are squishy, and can go OOM pretty quickly. Once they are OOM they become pretty useless and must back off from a fight or become a free kill.

With the new changes though, mages are going to have a difficult time being able to burst down targets, while also having plenty of mana, and even access to a mobility item. IMO this is going to shift mages to the top lane, where they can effectively use their range to poke down melee brawlers and not have to worry so much about mana and can even have some sustain. 45% CDR should be that hard to accomplish now so they might be able to afford taking some blue runes other then CDR per level to help them in early game laning phase
