Season 8 Thoughts
I'll be blunt - cutting out full explanations for topics and just giving statements. The reason is League is a complex game and there's too much information to generalize/communicate. I'm going to assume people understand the basics of the issues if I believe the general public has already seen this or have general game knowledge about it.
Season 8 is the result of a long-period of planned out work. It's great we're getting champions tuned. I hope we focus less on "big updates" or changes in the future as we really need to address some power creep issues, macro gameplay, and little gimmicks in League that have aided in disappointing gameplay. Some examples are:
- Champion Pathing
- Minion Aggro
- Ability Interactions
- Toplane Interactivity
- Drake RNG
- Targeted Champion Tuning
- Champion Kits in relation with Gameplay Health
- Game Map
I believe focusing on the game's macro would be much better this season before moving into any other large-scale projects. For example, I hope champions like Morgana aren't bots who spam Q or one sole ability because that's where 80% of their kit's value lies. I want a kit - a set of abilities that synergize with each other and work well rather than just give some sort of value and decoration to match a champion.
With toplane interactivity, I am hoping we can split the Game's map and not only make it better but offer more objectives. For example, I believe the bottomleft team has a lower winrate than the topright due to less vision of enemies on the map. This is due to the map not being properly mirrored. There's also the issue that botlane offers 5-6 objectives compared to toplane's three objectives. I hope we can split the drakes across both sides of the map instead with infernals in toplane, oceans in botlane, and cloud drakes between both. Though, this is just a random suggestion and I'm not asking for actual implementation due to how poorly thought-out(I simply just put it to place it in discussion as a starting point).
#Runes
I would PTA to activate on the third attack instead if we were going for a buff for it to face Fleet Footwork. If you guys do not know what I am talking about, then look below:
Fleet Footwork can get a numeric nerf.
I would love if Lethal Tempo was a ramp-up instead of an instant increase as well.
I believe these changes will shift the precision runes to a better place. ADCs will definitely look at lethal tempo more since Bloodline would also be an option for them.
There could also be a change to have specific primary runes to lock/change the rune choices you have. EG, let's make Stopwatch a primary rune but you cannot take Magical Footwear as an option.
I like the direction of the additive stats being given from secondary+primary tree combinations as well.
#Diversifying Botlane
I feel this is an idea up for failure simply due to how Riot has not only made AP itemization poor but AD superior in most ways except AoE. I hope we can offer support items that strengthen melee/AP champions instead for this and also create AP equivalents for AD items (Mercurial Scimitar).
