So I think I'm gonna quit the game. I'm definetly never playing solo again.
The Yasuo in my last game gave me a revalation. He fed his ass off. I'm ok with that. He then blamed me and everyone else for not helping him, and refused to group with us. Now I encounter those people a lot. And i was cool with that. But not anymore.
My internet was out for a week (May any ethereal power protect you from this fate). So i was limited to only single player games. I'd been drifting from League for some time, on account of the toxicity and pettiness of the community. It's like no other I've experienced.
Here are a few comparisons.
Planetside 2: No one gives a shit if you suck, and you can be kicked from a platoon for toxicity. How this could improve LoL: Kick toxic players. Put a button in champ select saying 'i want to play x champ'. Players can play as toxic dude while they queue. They can choose to remain in game or start their own. Suiciding players will be kicked, no replacement needed, it was a 4v6 anyway.
Any shooter i played as a kid: Generally a far more casual experience at a low level of play. I mean, the 12 year olds were actually funny, instead of infuriating , and i never saw someone feed deliberately.
So i think the main problem is behavior. It's not so much the toxicity, it's the total lack of team play. And with this early meta, you might not have time to scale well enough to carry. It's sad, but if your Yasuo goes 0/2 in 5 minutes (I believe, may be wrong, but it happened damn quickly), that Riven (who was a nice dude btw) is gonna scale hard. But i was 7/0/3, and things were looking ok.
And then this Yasuo decided to just split push etc., and start calling us various insults. I ended this game 10/6/I can't remember, i have a short memory. He to me represents all that is wrong with League of Legends at present.
A toxic person who won't co-operate out of sheer hatred for not getting ganked while he was level 4 and Riven was level 6 off his feeding. I don't blame him for feeding, but i realised something.
When my internet was out, I played games such as Total War (insert here), Far Cry 4, (I refunded primal cause I'm scared of owls, I have to AFK every time i see Woad Quinn), Assassins Creed (Insert here), Skyrim, The Forest. And I realised in all those games, every lost battle, every time i got shot, eaten by cannibals, burned to death, IT WAS MY FAULT.
In Planetside, you don't lose a war cause YOU suck. You don't lose a match in 3 seconds in every other game. A single person not dodging a single skillshot can end your game (My friend who was playing Viktor walked into an Amumu Q dammit). That wasn't my fault he did that. But it was me left alone to defend.
I think a game that punishes you for the spite and unkindness of your team isn't good game design. On a game such as Planetside, that dumbass shooting you won't be doing it long, and you have a defence against them. In most multiplayer games, if someone's being an asshole, you can just leave. (I think there should be a vote saying 'This guys toxic, we're afking', so basically that person gets reported and the game ends. Anyone abusing this feature will immediately go down a division. If the report is valid, justice is done, no problem)
So I've decided that because of these issues, I will no longer play this game on a regular basis. I'll probably play occasionally, but only with friends.
It's a shame really, this is actually my most played game.
I'll always have those fond memories of playing 12 hours in a day.
