Talon vs Diana/Talon Counters

I play mid a lot and Diana is usually my go to counter vs assassins because she generally has enough durability to survive their burst, enough damage to fire back, and her w punishes them for getting into melee. Just played a game against a talon where he wrecked me, even with the defense from my shield he was way outdamaging me in early trades, then snowballed hard. Was I just not playing well, or is Talon strong against Diana now? I haven't really laned against him since the rework. If Diana's not a good matchup against Talon anymore, who would you suggest?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Talon is trash in general, Diana should be stomping him.

Diana is a better assassin than any of the actual assassins at the moment besides Rengar and Kha'Zix.

Pre-6, he can only proc his passive by hitting 3 stacks of his abilities and then an auto. The only two ways he has is hitting both of his extremely slow Rake hits, and then hitting you with Q. If he hits you melee range, it counts as an ability AND an auto and will proc the bleed. If he hits you using the gapcloser, it is not an autoattack so he will have to hit you again.

Get the feeling for his Q range and dance around it, poke him with your own Q, and mostly just focus on farming. You're far better at farming than he is. Post-6, you completely crush him.

Now that he gets an autocrit in melee range trades are kind of difficult, may i ask what build you are using? I usually go roa/zhonyas/nashors as my first three and dont really have too many issues, just poke a lot and if he gets close side step the rake and w him

Diana should still counter him as he has to go into Meele Range to go all in where you usually outrade him.

The Damage from his returning W is his main poke tool, try to activate your shield when his W is about to return and you can't dodge it.

Diana is really weak pre 6. I also used to play Diana mid and still do as my assassin. If you really want to counter assassin's, try cho gath. He's tanky enough to survive bursts, has more damage than you'd expect, and interrupts combos well. Only thing is he can't roam well, but doesn't need to if you ping where your opponent is and then whail on their turret when they leave.

I'd say a bit of both? I reckon Talon will do better against Diana than before, but I'd say she is still a counter. In which case you were probably a little careless.
