I can't imagine the effort it would take to redo all the item icons or update most. The strain on resources would be immense. Riot simply doesn't have the time or money to even attempt such an undertaking.

Besides, Moobeat said these small patches mean that 6.9 is winding down and will probably be around next week. The bigger changes usually occur during the first week of PBE patching.
