Twisted Fate's Pick a Card and Latency

I had one of those infamous games just now where you start out at a decent latency and end up eating 300-500ms for most of the game and yet have a delay of 1.5-2s on actions. Today was the first time I did so as Twisted Fate. I would choose Yellow Card and get Blue Card or Red Card. Or I'd choose Blue Card and get Red Card or Yellow Card. As you might imagine, this causes considerable headaches for Twisted Fate who relies on this for mana sustain and CC. There was at least 3 instances in the early game where an ally was killed or an enemy narrowly escaped because I pulled a Blue Card instead of a Yellow Card, and a few more where I did not have any mana left because I had gotten Red or Yellow Cards while attacking minions.

My computer is having no hiccups and never dropped under 60fps, which leads me to believe that Pick a Card's determination (for lack of a better phrase) is server side. When dealing with high latency, this severely punishes the player and should be changed.

Everything in League is server-side to prevent hacking/abuse.

This does mean things like this -really- suck, but there's not much you can do about it.

Yeah, it's just something you have to get used too on TF.

Gross Gore mains (mained? Haven't watched him is some years) Twisted Fate. He used to play on NA (he lived in England I believe) and 100% of the time his ping was like 200. He actually had trouble his first game on EUW when he finally switched, he was so used to his cards having lag when picking them.

Pick a Card is indeed tracked server side. Even when you aren't actively using it, it's constantly cycling Blue > Red > Yellow in the background, meaning that with proper timing (or more likely, luck) you can double-tap W to get exactly the card you want, without warning your opponent beforehand.
