Could Essence Reaver be tweaked a bit?
I feel that it gives too much for just a single item. For those who need a quick reminder:
- +65 AD
- +20% crit chance
- +10% CDR (Passive #1)
- 0% - 20% additional CDR based on other crit chance items where 30% additional crit is the max (basically luc would also need a 30% crit chance item to max this item's bonus CDR) (Passive #2)
- 3% max mana restored each crit (Passive #3)
- cost: 3600
_Ironically, the mana passive is by far better than most AP mana sources since it can become 3% max mana restored every basic attack at 100% crit. The starting 20% means statistically 1 in 5 autos gives 3% max mana. _
Currently being abused by
and
, but more or less any ADC who uses abilities for a decent chunk of their damage can run this item just fine, this item needs to be toned down a bit. The mana restore is crazy strong and so is the CDR, both of which have potentially higher caps than any AP item currently in the game. It is one of the 5 main AD damage items and has a spot in anyone's build. Currently all you need is either
to get the full amount of bonus CDR out of the passive #2. Which usually means by your second-third item you have 30% CDR.
My suggestions/ideas :
1) Lower passive #2's cap on the bonus CDR to a max 10% from the current 20%. This way the item can only give up to 20% total.
2) Change it so that passive #3's mana restore is only applicable on crits that hit champions and monsters, not minions. This way just farming the lane won't keep your mana pool healthy. You are gonna have to spend time fighting players or monsters to get the restore.
3) Change passive #3 so that it works on CD instead of crits. For Example: every 10 seconds in combat the next spell or auto refunds 3% max mana. This way you have to be in combat to restore mana and can't just wait X amount of seconds for the restore to apply. That would basically be like half of an Aqua Dragon buff.
4) Remove passive #1 entirely. This would lower the early game effectiveness that the 10% CDR grants because you would need more crit items to gain CDR.
5) Have passive #2's bonus CDR be switched to milestones, where at every 25% crit chance you would receive +5% CDR (25% = 5% CDR, 50% = 10% CDR, 75% = 15% CDR, 100% = 20% CDR). This makes the easy access 30% CDR the item currently offers much more spread out over time.
Note that EVERY idea is individual and not tied with another, these are all ideas that alone I believe could fix the item. In no way am I suggesting for all of them to happen.
