Thoughts From a Dumb Bronze

I've played this game on and off since season 2, but I really didn't understand how things worked until late into season 3. I remember before I knew how items really worked building only Madred's Bloodrazors on Warwick because they had claws. I've never made it out of Bronze, partially because I suck, and partially because I'm a support main. Although I may not agree with a lot of the changes that have been made, the game has become a lot more player friendly since I started. I miss the old rune system, but you had to sink a bunch of IP into it in order to be competitive, which in my opinion was nor fair. I miss the old Karma with her Mantra Qs that healed for ridiculous amounts, but her rework made her a better champ. I really have not been involved for a lot of the patches that I see people complaining about, so I really don't know how to feel about them. However one thing that has remained constant in my time playing has been that you still need a good team to win. You can have a top laner that feeds, or an adc that doesn't know how to last hit, but the game is still winnable with good communication and teamwork. And I have to say Riot did a great job keeping that around. Implementing the ping system in 2013 was a tremendous boost to the game. In regards to the shield breaking mechanics they just introduced, I think Riot will balance it in time. Every new mechanic and champ that I have seen introduced has been balanced over time, if it's too strong they nerf the hell out of it and then buff it back, and the cycle continues. I was not playing at the time of the morde, akali, and kayle reworks to try and focus on school, so I don't know how those really went. Toxicity can be strong in the community at times, and I feel that instead just bashing everything that Riot does, we as a community should give honest and constructive criticisms about it. If they choose not to listen, then it falls on them and we as a community did our best to make this game better. P.S. Someone please teach me how to climb out of Bronze as a supp main, I just wanna get out for once.

I do believe that getting runes with Ip was unfair, but they could have kept them if they made them free. Tbh old runes were better. Same with masteries.

To answer getting out of bronze with support.

I usually like going ap heavy supports like Velkoz Lux Zyra and even sometimes ap Bard . Right now other champions like Blitzcrank Leona or braum are not really useful because of this high damage meta. Going supports who can carry their team by supporting and dealing damage would be good. Let me tell you, as a gold player, playing support only gets worse in silver. Silver = old bronze

Or

Try other lanes. I was a support main who went to become also a top laner and mid laner. Support teaches zoning, peeling, poking, and warding which are all perfect for other lanes. The only thing you would have to learn is farming, if you haven’t already.

what worked for one person to climb out of bronze may not work for you

each person has a different playstyle/thought process

sure you can get basics down and get builds figured out, but that only does so much

honestly

find a champion that fits you, learn it...live it...love it

know which champions give you problems and figure out who the biggest threat to you is and ban them every game learn to fight (as best you can) every other champion that might present you an issue

even if it means tweaking your build to better accommodate that

prime example

Last season I mained Leona Support and I banned Vayne every game because I couldn't fight her. But I slowly learned what to do if I had to fight one. I adjusted my build and now I can fight her evenly. I just now ban Kai'sa when I play Leona since even with various altered builds, I can't fight her.

Have one or two back up pocket pick champions in the event your main get picked by the enemy team or banned (or in rare cases grabbed by a team mate because their gonna play it)

I climbed from Bronze V to Gold III with Support Rammus once. Granted, this was in season 3 when the game wasn't a sports car held together with duct tape. The general secret, though? Take care of your team. Whatever you do, keep your team safe.

You're bushi, and every other player on your team represents your daimyō. Make sure you scout their territory and any territory they conquer (wards). Make sure you defend them with your life when they come under threat. When you have an enemy on the ropes, present them to your lord so he can have the glory of defeating them. Never ever seek personal glory, instead seeking to provide your teammates with as much glory as possible. That sort of mentality alone will be a great help as a support main.
