I feel like league has backed themselves in a corner.

So I currently have a 14 day suspension, and I deserve it. Pretty toxic, but thats for another time.

What I am going write about is a problem that I see with the overall tribunal system, and how they don't particularly take domino effect of things into consideration.

I was in Silver last year, and by some random bad luck and some bad play on my end, I was placed in bronze at the start of this season. Now let me tell you, I thought climbing out of silver was hard. Bronze is an overall orgy of no. Whether it be AFKs, or people who are just plain terrible, or someone who does not care, a majority of my games in the past few months have been part of this problem. I climbed out of Bronze 5 on SIX different occasions, and I was immediately put back due to (mostly) AFK people and people who want to try the random ridiculous troll pick they saw some youtuber do. (Ex. Gnar, but only building item 3083's for all 8 slots. no damage, no actual armor or MR.)(Also, he went jg, and didnt take smite)

Now most of you will say, you can win with any comp, if you do it right. I understand that, I have actually won a 3v5 because of a great Darius player going off, and my Diana mid lane getting the early advantage to snowball it out of control, but why should that be the norm. I cant recall a single game so far in bronze where the teams have been even, and one mistake turns the favor. It has always been a massacre. (no matter the team).

This leads me to my main point. The punishments seem off to me. The tribunal is set up to get rid of people that make the experience of the game negative for everyone, but it mostly focuses on people that flame or go full negative on their team. Some things should absolutely not be tolerated (ex. Homophobia or racial slurs) however, a lot of the time from what I have experienced and seen from other players, its a domino effect that gets the negativity flowing. When someone is trying their best to move up, and they are being hindered by someone who goes AFK, or someone who simply mutes the team, and refuses to ping/help in any way all game, it makes the whole point of the game useless. I understand some people play it as a game solely for fun, but some other people find fun, in the actual competition, and trying to move up a ranks.

With Riot heavily focusing on getting the toxicity out of the game, they are losing sight of a big contributor to the reasons behind their toxicity. The guy who muted everyone, and decides to troll wont get punished because he was "doing his job, and not causing drama", but the person who gets fed up with it, and shows his frustration will get banned, and the cycle continues.

Taking away the overly toxic players is perfectly fine. However, Riot needs to make a more concentrated effort to find a way to diagnose the reasons behind the toxicity. That will make the overall gameplay much more balanced, and it might actually actually make the gameplay more enjoyable.

Its the same thing in plat... one team snowballs, the other sucks... Matchmaking needs to be reworked to better balance out the teams.

The underlying causes of toxicity will always be there. Events in game that "cause" toxicity are just triggers for it's release. It's not surprising that players have trouble dealing with the stress of a competitive environment. Fans in other competitive sports have even burst onto the field and attacked players that under-performed in a competitive match. Regardless of how you feel about what happens in a game, it doesn't make toxic actions socially acceptable. As much as RIOT does to help the situation, it is ultimately up to you to not be that guy.
