Issues With Autofill That People Keep Ignoring

One of the consistent arguments use for pro-autofill arguments is that, for the longest time, League was based off of a pick order system, meaning no one had a prescribed role rather they picked whatever role they wanted when it was their turn to pick, as long as it wasn't picked of course.

The huge difference between autofill and the previous pick order system is that you could play 10 games and only get your role like 3-5 times, especially if you were a mid/ad main. What this means is that there is a significant chance in each 10 games that you could play a role that wasn't your own In other words, you are forced to play different roles more often. Because of this, many people had pretty good experience in most roles, unless you were a support since you get your role most games.

Now with autofill, out of 10 games, realistically you will get your preferred roles, say mid/ad, about 9 times out of 10. With this system players don't really have to learn roles outside of their preferred roles, nor do they really get a chance to. What this creates is an even bigger gap between "filled" players and their mains, and is why in many cases, autofill can fill like an auto lose. It's also important to point out that there isn't always an autofilled player on either you or the opposing team.

There was a time when I was a rather good top and jg with a pretty substantial pool in both, but now...I almost always feed in both those areas as I don't know the matchups well nor do I understand the proper gank/clear paths for each champion.

Autofill is one of the reasons many games can feel one sided. Mid/Jg/Ad should never be autofilled roles as these roles are just too important and crucial for winning a game.
