The entire ranked progression system needs to be reworked.

TL:DR a win is never as rewarding as a loss is detrimental.

I really have nothing to offer except my experience. Over the past two months I've gone from being in promos for silver 3, to bronze 2 now as of today. Its been a long, depressing and extremely confusing experience. I even quit this account for a while to play a smurf because of how depressing my losing streaks were on my main account (this one). At this point I'll probably be returning to my smurf where I feel its much more balanced and I'm playing where I belong. I just find it hard to believe that I've some how "become less good than I was" and need to constantly be demoted down to hilarious tiers through unfair lp loss/gains. Two months ago I was in silver gaining and losing almost equally about 15 lp. Now, I'm in bronze and I lose 25lp but only gain 12. I literally need to win 10 games in a row to get out of a tier, but 5 will demote me. This should never be the case. How can anyone argue that this makes the game fair. Everyone should be gaining/losing equal amounts of lp forever. You should also be matched with players who are in your tier, and nothing else. Only bronze should be able to que with bronze, only sivler with silver ex. I feel that the only reason riot doesn't do this is because you'd have horrendous que times past gold tier. I'll make a quick list of things I think should happen to this game

k/d/a should mean something in determining your mmr (in the current system that I disagree with at least) lp gains/losses should be forever equal (20) promos shouldn't exist at all, anywhere. All games should matter, not just a select occasional few. 10 champion bans per game The ONLY penalty for dodging should be a que delay that increases for each dodge you commit in a day. (if they're going to make a game where the lobby is 50% of the determination on whether you're going to win, you shouldn't be penalized for being strategic) remake should be allowed at any point 5 mins after a team mate has gone afk. Solo/duo should not exist. Instead, there should be 100% SOLO, NO PREMADES OF ANY KIND and FLEX for all others besides 5 person premades. Every season EVERYONE should be 100% set back to BRONZE 5 with NO EXTREME LP GAINS to 'boost' them back to where they 'belong'. Once you've achieved a certain tier, your border should never go away and remain on your account forever so you don't have to play ranked anymore to maintain it if you don't want too.

Looking at your match history; I wouldn't play Rakan until maybe Monday or people don't understand anything he does.

TL:DR a win is never as rewarding as a loss is detrimental.

Totally not true. I climbed back to Gold 5 in FlexQ this season after being placed in Bronze 2, and all the way up I was winning 22-27 pts per win, losing 13-18 pts per loss. If you lose more than you win, it's because the system believes you're ranked too high and tries to slowly downgrade you. If the system is actually wrong in believing that, your winrate should be >50%, and 1/ you'll still climb, albeit more slowly; 2/ you will start to earn more points per win.

In your case, it's the opposite : your winrate was <50%, so you kept losing more and more points per loss. Once you get to a level where you win 50% of the time, you'll get back to losing/earning the same.

You play support every game. While that shouldn't be a bad thing when it comes to ability to win games, it is - you have absolutely no influence on the game. You also played the new champion, but that's obviously not something that's been happening for a while.

I suggest playing a different role to get higher, and then go to support.

I do somewhat agree with you, but still the way the system works is that if it feels like you arent worthy of the rank you are currently it will basically see by gaining lower than usual. If you are losing more than gaining it basically means the system feels you need to prove yourself. If it is equal you are basically where you should be, and if you are gaining more than losing you deserve better.

Also like others have said you really cant be complaining when you are part of the problem. How about stop playing the new champion, and play with what you know so youll win more, and go up in ranking.

Just because you got silver 3 after placement's doesn't mean you deserved to be there. After around 50-100 games you should be at your actual rank which is what happened to you.

Ok let me school you son.

Ranked doesn't actually use the league system.

Ranked uses the ELO system that it used to use back in earlier seasons except Riot doesn't tell you your elo.

Why? Riot realised people got "ladder anxiety" because if their elo sunk just a little too much boom no warning gold to silver.

Their solution was to paint over this system with a much more friendlier less anxiety causing interface - the new league system where if you have a shit streak you're barely punished (oh no you drop from s4 to s5 big whoop).

Why is this relevant? If the actual elo system the game is based on says your mmr/elo is higher than you should be for say silver 4 it will give you more LP than you lose so you can climb to the bracket you're meant to be in. If the system says "ok this guy doesn't actually belong in s4, his elo is bronze" you'll lose more LP from losing than you gain from winning to slow drop your ass to your chair.

As for dropping from silver to bronze? You 100% deserve it. I've intentionally dropped from s5 to b1 on a smurf (twice) and it is HARD work to get that demotion. You need to get BRONZE FIVE elo before the system says "ok fuck it throw this guy out of silver". Your elo SUCKS big time and that's why your climbing doesn't work - you don't deserve it. Win more games than you lose (hell just get a 50% winrate and the gains/losses will stabilise) and you'll climb again.

Basically I'm just mad and depressed that an account I've spent two years and hundreds of dollars on is being fucked by a garbage system that places me with trolls/idiots and thinks I deserve to lose 2x as much progress as I gain.

I'll try to offer some constructive criticism OP. I just spectated a little bit of your game as Annie and wanted to help point out a few things that might help you in the future, as well as a quick OP.GG review.

  1. Buy a Control Ward (Pink) when you have the spare gold and/or don't have one down yet. ESPECIALLY as a support. I can't find a single game in your match history where you've bought one. Denying enemy vision as well as protecting your own is by far the most important thing in keeping yourself safe and enemies at bay. If you see the Lee Sin sitting in a bush you can simply walk out of his effective range and render him useless, wasting his time and likely your laner's while they try to "bait" you in. I really like seeing that you're upgrading your free trinket at level 9 as well - keep doing this!

  2. CS'ing - definitely needs a bit of work, but that's okay - it's something we can all improve upon! Even Faker himself misses the occasional cannon minion here and there, but with a champion like Annie you should expect to have a very high CS count given the ease of farming with her Q's.

  3. Map awareness - this is something that will come with practice. Try to look at the map between every CS. If that's too much to handle while focusing on CS'ing, try to look at it between each wave or when someone pings for assistance. I noticed your Xin Zhao was dueling Lee Sin near Dragon and winning the fight very hard, when Yasuo decided to roam and save his jungler. This is the perfect opportunity for a free double kill or to blow all their summoners. You had an excellent spot in mid lane to freeze the wave when Yasuo roamed to match his. This transitions well into my next point:

  4. Freezing the wave and overall wave control. Check out some of SoloRenektonOnly's YouTube videos on wave management - it's extremely useful for a short amount of time invested. Basically, you want to determine what your ideal position in the lane is based on your opponent, their cooldowns/potential, and warding. Sometimes it's better to simply push the crap out of a wave and leave lane if you can't accomplish anything there. Other times it's much more beneficial to stack your minion wave and ONLY last hit the minions to let it naturally push. This will deny your opponent a ton of creeps and make them much more susceptible to ganks.

  5. Pressing your advantage. Yasuo is an intimidating lane opponent, but Annie does a fairly decent job of keeping him in check. His Wind Wall is no match for Tibbers. This usually will come with experience and more game knowledge. When he's dashing around (E) his minions, throw in a quick auto attack to pop his shield. This will accomplish A) lowering his effective HP and B) make him back off a bit and understand that you're going to punish him. If you let him freely dash around and push the wave you're going to have a bad time. He will out-CS you, gain XP faster, and hit item powerspikes faster due to this - making it that much easier for him to kill you in the future, or worse: your team.

  6. Itemization - while yours builds are generally OK, I would highly recommend prioritizing early against your lane opponent to survive, and then transition that into itemizing against the entire enemy team. Your first back you bought a Blasting Wand (+40 AP). While this is great, it doesn't give you nearly the safety of a Seeker's Armguard, which also scales over time while you save up for that juicy Zhonya's.

  7. Masteries - Your masteries are relatively OK, although I would prioritize maximizing the usefulness of each champion. For example, on your Brand page you picked up +5% Bonus Armor and Magic resistance. This only applies to the extra that you're packing with Runes and Items - not base stats, so with someone like Brand that likely will never pick up more than a Zhonya's Hourglass or Abyssal Scepter, it doesn't synergize too well. He'd much prefer the extra AP/AD for CS'ing and trading from Natural Talent, as well as 3% more damage from Double Edged Sword (this tier is often debated, as almost all of them are fair choices, with Bounty Hunter being the exception if you don't plan on striking a lot of Killing Blows).

  8. Runes - I'd highly recommend optimizing staying alive rather than running pure damage. While having +16.8 AP at level 18 seems nice and synergizes well with Rabadon's Deathcap, it doesn't do anything for keeping you alive - especially on a champion like Annie that lacks HP Sustain. The 9 Armor Seals will drastically alter the early laning phase, especially against Yasuo or any other AD Champion. Running Scaling Health Seals are fine as well, as they scale much better than 16.8 AP. It's in a similar fashion against AP Champions - running in without any MR when your opponent likely has the same Magic Penetration setup as you only hurts you further.

  9. Don't make your ganks obvious - If you're playing passive for 3 minutes straight and immediately run at your lane opponent with your stun prepped, he's going to know something is up. If he doesn't, sweet, take the kill. But 9 times out of 10 they will immediately retreat and your jungler will have wasted both his time and yours. Protect your jungler as well as yourself and let him do his job being sneaky. We like taking candy from babies, and it's much easier when your opponent is constantly playing aggressive and you play the "scared and innocent" card allowing us to just walk up to them or put them in a compromising position.

  10. Warding - Try to keep a ward down and play towards a protected side if you can. Most of the time, you'll want to play around the side that your jungler is on. If he's camping bot lane for 15 minutes, be prepared to run through the bot river if you need assistance. Running top in that scenario is only prolonging your death and costing you valuable time, XP, and Gold (unless your top laner is planning to meet you half-way, although he will miss out on XP/Gold as well as running the risk of being followed up by the enemy top laner and both of you dying, so he will likely be unable to assist unless he is in a dominating position or crushing his lane). Even if your teammates are completely blind to your pings, it's difficult for them to ignore you if you simply run past them and lead an enemy along the way.

Hopefully these help, feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to provide any answers if I have any! Best of luck to you!

How would changing the system to check kda for performance help you? You're a support main and you die a lot, it would probably hurt you more than anything.

I think it would be in your best interest to learn to play jungle, not because you will climb playing jungle but because learning this role will give you more options. Some of the best supports I've seen work as a tag team with the jungler to make every opponents lives miserable, getting some experience jungling will help you see how you can coordinate better with different junglers and give you multiple play styles to squeeze out more victories, a lee sin/ lulu gank to mid is brutal, keep that in mind.

You are literally the type of person people hate to have on their team. You played the new champion in ranked with 0 practice games on him. What happened? You fed. 0-9-4. You've played 4 games, only winning 1 of them. And you've pretty much fed in them all. You have a KDA of 1.86. That is simple bad. Especially for a support. So you're playing champs you have no idea how to play and hurting your team. Then you complain that you can't climb. Wonder why. You also die way too much.

Alright man, you're clearly tilted off the face of the earth, because most of these suggestions make 0 sense from a balance/efficiency perspective.

Restless Slumber4/21/2017, 3:45:53 PM1 votes

I have to deal with this in Diamond bud. It's called having bad mmr, and that is what happens when you go on losing streaks. If you go on winstreaks your mmr will improve.
