ARAM ... I've seen platinum ranked that such big time because they can't get the play right

I've heard a lot of people say that aram doesn't have the level of skill that SR has ... well, it is different skill, because someone doing well in ranked means very little in doing well in aram. Played a game on a team with a platinum on it ... he was so unskilled for aram it was pathetic.

Aram ought to replace the rift for ranked ... or be its own ladder.

I wish this was a joke.

I'll start by addressing your claims of skill.

What ARAM doesn't require:

  • Map awareness
  • Roaming
  • CS'ing is negligible.
  • Smart rotations
  • Objective trading
  • Tracking roaming players (like a jungler)
  • Efficiently and effectively warding

What ARAM does require:

  • Good positioning
  • Good teamfighting
  • Luck

TL;DR: ARAM doesn't require any skill comparably.

Secondly, ARAM is not a serious mode. I finished in low Diamond last season, and I occasionally played ARAM with lower ELO friends. Sure, I was definitely more consistent than them and maybe I carried more often, but that doesn't mean that I didn't have bad games or that I didn't goof off. I get Nunu? Looks like I'm building full AP and sitting back and doing nothing in teamfights till I snowball in at the very end to ult everyone. Am I playing Cassiopeia? Looks like I'm gonna dive their tower in pursuit every time I land a Q on them. Did I get Lux? Looks like I'm going to stand in range of their abilities and spamming laugh until they force me to flash.

Sure, maybe I would occasionally have some games where I finished 1-7, but that doesn't mean that I'm a poor player of ARAM or that I'm bad at the game. That means that either A) I got a terrible champion for ARAM, B) I'm goofing off, or C) I don't care.

TL;DR: The mode is played for fun.

LOL, yea, he had Udyr on ARAM. That has nothing to do with a Diamond player not knowing how to play ARAM and being out matched by low elo, that is simply someone getting a champion that is absolutely garbage on that map. The best ARAM player in the world is going to have a hard time as Udyr vs a team comp off Bard, Amumu, Thresh,, Scion and Lux. He gets poked by Lux, he can't engage or he gets stopped by the other 4. You went 4-7-13 in the same game as Yorick, you need to think things through before posting lol.

ARAM does have its own ladder, all game modes have an individual MMR in League of Legends.

Your personal MMR is 887, OP, the bottom 8% of players - or in other words 92% of players are better than you are.

ARAM is a heavy teamfight-oriented map, and positional errors are quickly brought out. With that being said, it's also RANDOM. Sure, there's accounts that are specifically brought up for the purposes of team-stacking (i.e. Lux, Sona, Varus, etc.), however these players rarely get far, as they are KDA machines looking to boost their own ego. A team of Udyr, Xin Zhao, Volibear, Irelia, and Braum likely isn't going to have a fun time against Lux, Sona, Varus, Nidalee, and Ziggs. They will, more often than not, be poked out and sieged into oblivion. That's what makes ARAM fun to most of us, the randomness and off-build team comps/builds. Tank Janna, you say? Sign me up. AP Volibear? Roar them to death! It's also generally a far less toxic game mode, aside from a few outliers, and is great practice to learn every champion. Most people say nothing in ARAM unless it's to congratulate their teammates on a job well done, or "?" Ping when someone does an absolutely astonishing play.

Here's my MMR, for reference: https://na.whatismymmr.com/plscheckthisbush

I've had the luxury of playing against many high-ranking players, including those that play on professional teams. Here's a picture of me playing (and losing) against Challenger Rikara of the team GCU: http://imgur.com/uSoGPWO

Oh yea, and to add on to that, that player was NEVER Diamond. He ended Season 6 as Plat 5. So no, he didn't 'make it into Diamond recently'. He hasn't played ranked at all since last season, where he landed at Plat 5 40LP playing mostly Janna and Mao...

Aram has always been my go to place for practising side stepping mechanics.

Laning against most mid laners revolves around that ability. And having to dodge 5 wrenches at once makes you better than 1.

I'm honestly not sure what you're debating at this point, we've given you all the tools you need to see how the math works. It seems your more intent on proving your own worth and ego-boosting rather than seeing the plain truth in front of you. It's not our responsibility to cater to you and your beliefs of being much more skilled than you are while making false claims, hence why you've been downvoted into oblivion. I usually play against Diamond/Platinum -> Challenger tier players, occasionally running into a Silver or Gold here or there. This is in stark contrast to you seeing a large amount of Golds/Silvers. At no point do I claim to be the best player by any means, nor do I claim to be perfect and exempt from mistakes. There's always ways I can improve just like everyone else - I'm only human. If you checked my match history, you'll see I'm 99% of the time playing by myself. I usually run into players I've seen before, however I rarely (if ever) duo-queue. The tools are all in front of you, it's your responsibility to see them at this point.

And as we've all stated multiple times, ARAM has its own ladder. Just like Normals, Twisted Treeline, Ascension, and so on. There are people that excel in different game modes hence why it is in place. We've explained the math behind it several times with how the ELO rating system works, as well as provided links to where you can check our own personal MMR. It's up to you to learn how it works and improve from there, we can only spoon-feed you so much. You can attempt to belittle individuals on the forums, however you're ignoring blatant facts that have been given to you. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."

Again, I'm very confused on your stance, you came to the boards to flame someone for "being Plat" and not playing well stating that ARAMs require a different skill than Ranked, yet continue to pursue looking at other people's Ranked games for skill while defending your own ARAM status. At the same time, in the original post you are claiming ARAM should replace Summoner's Rift for Ranked, yet counter your own argument by stating "If you take any of it seriously, that is a joke." It's all very confusing.

When was this? In your last 20 this did not happen. You went vs a G1 that went 16-8-18 as GP who hard carried his team but I don't see this unskilled Plat player you are speaking of. It looks like you routinely get matched with mid to high bronze players in ARAM, so if it had its own ladder I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

Your entire basis of this thread is flaming someone else. You've done nothing but argue with everyone that has a counter-point to your original thread. It seems you're more intent on arguing just for the sake of being correct than have an actual discussion. Best of luck to you.

someone can be master tier by one tricking a champion, doesn't mean they are good at others. And Someone's playing ARAM doesn't care about winning or losing most of the time. Like who actually takes ARAM seriously.

I agree that ARAM has a much different type of skill to it, and I would actually enjoy a ranked version of ARAM however there are two major problems that will prevent ARAM from ever receiving its own ranked mode.

  1. The first and most obvious problem is in the name itself. Its practically impossible to have a truly level playing field where champions are assigned randomly. Rito would have to start balancing around 2 game modes (they struggle balancing 1 atm) and have in the past stated that they only want to balance around SR. Also there are several champions who are basically glorified minions when it comes to ARAM which brings us to point 2.

  2. Summoner's Rift has a champion tier list that ranks champions from strongest to weakest and changes from patch to patch. While ARAM does have a similar tier list, what seperates it from the SR list is that it almost never changes. This implies that it would be pretty easy to be "randomly assigned" a top tier champion every game by owning just the top tier ARAM champions and nothing else (aka. an ARAM Only Account). It also implies that anyone who owns champions for both game modes is automatically at a disadvantage. This "ARAM only account" problem isnt new, and isnt really addressed because ARAM doesnt have ranked and therefore isnt a priority. The solution would be to have all champions unlocked in this game mode, but that would cut into the companies revenue so don't hold your breath.

ARAM ranked would be neat, but it just isnt practical. [zombie-nunu-tears]
