New itemization idea
Currently, we have a system that basically requires everyone of a certain 'class' to buy certain items to be successful, and if you don't and the other person does, you get stomped on. It works on (W + X = Q) + (L + T = D) = PK gank uber item.
Here's a thought: Why not have items build into extended versions of themselves? For example, you build
+10 armor. You buy a second one, and suddenly you get up to 5 different items. And all of them give different amounts of armor:
+40
+35
+20
+30
+40 (yes, I know the armguard uses a third item)
And they all do DIFFERENT THINGS, none of which were involved in the original items. Where did these extra things come from? Why are they all different? Wouldn't it be easier to have a system that built up progressively where you could plan out your build according to the current game versus being forced to make choices outside of the competitive meta because you're up against a champ they don't use in the LCS?
My thought: Drop the abilities from the items at the top of the build chain down to the items below, so that building makes sense. And then, here's the kicker, why not just allow items to stack rather than build into totally different items?
For example, you buy
. Then, you buy
. This makes an item that does +10 armor, +10 damage as a base, but has adaptive damage based on your damage type (kinda like the runes do).
Basically you drop down to 5 item slots that are all modified by what you buy - head, armor, boots, weapon, shield (or dual wield). Then you buy items to modify a slot, rather than piecing together the uber item everyone buys in the LCS, and have an item tooled to what you want to be doing in the game you're in, and tooled to your play-style.
I know, first response = Probably never happen. However, if Riot likes this idea, I'm willing to help do it.
