Your Top 3/Worst 3 Champion Designs
What in your mind are the best champion designs and what are the worst champion designs in the game and why? I'm not talking about what's OP or broken, I'm talking the actual design of the champion and their kit. What makes them fun to play or not fun to play?
For me:
Best 3:
: Fun to play as and his mini game of hunting marks is a really cool and interesting concept. I also like how his ult can make or break a game but it's fair in that it doesn't just help him, it can help his enemies too if he doesn't use it right.
: Having a massive dragon who does damage by using stars orbiting around him is just neat. He's a tough champ to master which leads to his playrate ibeing low but if you know how to play him, he can be a force to be reckoned with. Fun to play as or against.
: One of the iconic champions of League, almost nothing feels more satisfying in a game than landing a hook and going in for the kill. Another champion where there's a huge skillgap and he's a fun champion to master.
Worst 3:
: Just not a good time to lane against this guy. Because of his ult, you can't really have close fights with this guy. You either beat him down or he'll just press R on you and auto-win the fight. He looks disgusting and isn't fun to interact with.
: Over the top flashy. It's not that she's tough to beat but she's annoying to watch and have to tangle with. Literally gives me a headache playing against her as she flys all over the screen. And her ability to tower dive and escape without a scratch is beyond frustrating.
Not fun to play with, not fun to play against. Having a Pyke on your team either means he gets fed or he's useless. Of course watching your team getting multi executed without being able to interact with him is just as unpleasant. He's the opposite of what a support should be and even if he does wind up getting kills, the ADC feels like they are worthless.
Those are my picks, what about you guys?
Broken af right now, but even when he's not strong I prefer to play him over all other adc's as he's not as much of an "auto attack to death" but rather you use abilities to get your passive procs. I also like his little dash, as a small thing like that can produce some pretty flashy plays, especially if you have essence reaver and then just dash around everywhere.
Call me an edgelord if you want, but god I love this guy. Not a good design imo, but most bad ones are the ones that are fun to play.
Just a bad design in general. They tried forcing him to the bot lane, but hes actually just doesn't do well there unless you have a hook support or someone who can cc an adc long enough for his fatass to walk all the way there. He has no way to stick on people, and is just one of the most kitable champions. But then if people actually fight him melee range it becomes a complete abomination with the amount of healing, shielding, and damage output he has. He doesn't have any balance between the fact that he gets kited, but almost always wins 1v1 melee, and it's just not very rewarding to play as, and not fun to play against if your champion fights him head on.
Not much to explain, I don't mind any of his mechanics personally. What I do hate about this guy is how no matter how far behind I set him in lane, and generally I can, he always seems to find a way to become a presence in the game against (This could be due to some of his mechanics, idrk). The 0/10 powerspike is not even a meme just because he actually makes it come true by just something stupid like a 3 man ult, and then completely turns the game around. Although I will give him a few points for being somewhat fun to play as.
He autowins teamfights late game with one button, not healthy at all.
Playing as her feels super fluid and good. Playing against her is arguably better than playing against old Akali, because it's no longer just "get as fed against her pre-6 as you can, then die anyways when she hits 6".
Again, a very fluid champion. The mind games with her are great - always nice to get them to run into you to avoid your W. Doesn't feel too bullshit to play against.
a champion I could probably take to any role, and a solid one. Is simple, but also has solid counterplay (Dodge her E). Honestly, her E and Lee's Q should be the model for how all targeted dashes should be. And her E doesn't have the bullshit hitbox Amumu's dash does. She can kick your ass back and forth while tanking everything, but she can also be stayed away from, and doesn't get fucktons of defense and damage at the same time.
An actually overloaded kit. Has CC, has poke, has waveclear, has DPS, has tank, has range, has mobility...The only damned thing he's missing is a shield. Fuck Gnar, and fuck FM because of Gnar buying it. Nobody should get to have that much mobility and also get to have that much range and also get to have that much durability.
Oppressive as fuck against almost any melee or shorter-range ranged. Even if you literally one-shot him you still take assloads of damage, and you'll run out of mana trying to clear his Q nest well before he does. And fuck RQ>Zhonya's. Fuck that bullshit. It's the ultimate "fuck you" to managing to get in range of him. Using Zhonya's should put his turrets in stasis so you don't take 80% of your health because he slapped his keyboard.
Oppressive as fuck against everyone. Mindless, unmissable, high-damage poke from an ability that's only slightly lower damage than Brand's ult AND FUCKING SILENCES YOU so you can't retaliate if you aren't a Draven or some other one-shot AA machine, point and click fear to dick you over if you get remotely close to him, W sustain that's just enough to be obnoxious and that you can't afford to not break the tether on because you'll probably never kill him with your abilities if you don't, but you'll spend too much time breaking if you're in melee range, and a huge AoE high damage ult that isn't fucking interrupted by him using Zhonya's, so your entire team loses 60% of its health while he's fucking invulnerable. It's bad when the only fucking healthy part of your kit is your passive, and it's just an even shittier version of hexflash because it only gives MS rather than a flash. Every fucking bad design mechanic in one, and fighting him is arguably the most miserable experience in the game.
Before all the nerfs
Before the rework (tho I like the new look)
Was the first champ I worked to get (I had got others but I worked to get him)
Just so unfun to play vs. Also another CT "Master Piece"
Not because she is hard to lane vs (she is not) its that why has everything a Melee champ wants and build nothing but AD but gets tankyness too and No mana. Bad Design.
hiperscaling safe lane bully engage disengage long range shield he's the most broken champ by design released in 5 years.
impossible to lane against her until she was gutted plus saving your supp life from anything secure Nashor/Drakes gives vision with W.
a complete abomination best champ in the game for a 1-3-1 ultimate broken on coordinated teams low counterplay set up for ganks with his root he's just too good at what he does which causes that he needs to have 44% winrate to be "balanced"
- Best reworked champion to date. Not only modernized the design while preserving the feel, but managed to make it balanced. The best this champion will ever be is a FIGHTER. The majority of his abilities have insane AD ratios but do magic damage, so he can never be an assassin. His Q is a great heal, and latch ability that allows skill expression to players who invest in him. His W gives him a lot of map control, vision control, and mind control but is gated by a long cooldown active and the ability to be cancelled by simply putting him in combat. His E is a 1 second feel that animation locks him while giving him some tankiness and dueling potential, but without it he is fairly squishy even as a tank. His R is a skill shot that gets a faster cast and distance radius based on movespeed, but the more movespeed actually hinders the accuracy of this skill believe me. Low skill floor but high skill ceiling.
- Very healthy AP assassin/Skirmisher. Has waveclear that is weak early. Has a shield and stun gated by a long CD, high mana cost, and very predictable hit box. E gives him some mobility and sheen proc. His R, the "get out of jail free" card has a lot of utility in that it can be an AP nuke, your lifeline heal, or a reliable gap closer. It can also be an INT tool to put you right where you don't want to be. This champion starts the game as a skirmisher, fairly weak but resonably safe. The longer the game goes the more he transitions into an AP assassin. There is plenty of time to shut him down, plenty of champions to shut him down, and plenty of items to shut him down. High skill ceiling champ.
High damage champion with a lot going on in his kit. High burst with tons of physical and even HP% magic damage to boot. He offers an AoE speed up, a single target knock back, a long range aoe nuke, atk speed steroid, built in sunfire cloak on W active, armor/mag pen on canonstance enhanced auto, tank resistances on hammer stance and mana sustain on W passive. He is gated by high mana cost and requires mana management to utilize to his full potential. He isn't a very mobile champ, once he jumps into a fight he is there. His long range poke falls off a cliff come the latter half of mid game. Anything with sustain will dumpster him, anything with CC will guarantee he dies to jungle ganks, and anything that builds armor will outscale him. This champion has a mid level skill floor but I believe a high skill ceiling as there are multiple animation cancels to learn and he can hard carry a game if he is skilled enough.

I just like playing her that much.
a well designed healer support, I just don't find her as fun to play as the other two
not as bad as the other two, he's mainly here because of how broken event horizon is in ARAM
2.
I think he was a mistake by riot on all levels even though he's got a few fans. He's an enchanter in a role that didn't see many enchanters, his kit is weird, and I don't think his aesthetics are appealing to a wider audience or people who play enchanters. IDK what riot was smoking when they made him, but it's pretty clear drugs are bad.
No other support (not even THE QUEEN) brings more to their allies than the ol' Gem Knight. Being able to twin all of your spells off of an ally is a unique mechanic that creates so many opportunities to walk away saying "I helped!!" (and not in the way
does when he traps his allies in with an ulting
A terrible character in so many ways. His Q is a sad joke. Three tiny projectiles which leisurely drift toward his target in a pattern which literally requires the target to already be stunned to have any chance of hitting. He has two passives and somehow neither is particularly strong or interesting. His point and click stun can't really be called such, as 2/3 times it requires a prep time to actually get the stunning card ready, and after stunning and shooting Q, there is still a very good chance that his opponent will just cc him in response and out trade, if not kill him. At least his ultimate lets him teleport around the map so that he can feed faster. This cowboy is from the past and every part of his kit shows it.
IMO, Draven's kit seems like something that was implemented without any amount of testing beforehand. Unlike TF, Draven's passive grants a meaningful amount of gold on scoring a kill, with the amount increasing each time he catches an axe. What Riot seems to ignore, is that at almost any time that Draven throws an axe, it is going to be spinning. He only has to pay his mana cost once, and he is set. He can blast through nearly any support or marksman unfortunate enough to face him with only a couple of spinning axes. On top of that, his AS/MS steroid effectively has 100% uptime, given that its cooldown resets on catching an axe. This keeps him mobile enough that he can easily out maneuver most of other champs, with his E giving him just enough CC to deal with the few he can't.
Don't get me wrong, Sylas is a joy to play, but let's be honest: it is easier to name the mechanics that Sylas doesn't have in his kit than the ones he does. The fact that this character has a shield, a heal, a situational damage steroid, a sheen passive, a cleave passive, 2 dashes a knock-up, a slow, AND the ability to copy any non-included ult mechanic in the game, Sylas is the best example to date of a champion whose kit can only be described as entirely overloaded.
on her then once pros did it supports stacking became acceptiable to meta made me feel pretty validated in my build call. The CC is not brainless, timing her E, making good bounces on W, and the massive impact a good R makes. Just rewarding with out being stupid easy and feeling like a stat check.

all kinda have that vibe for me. Diana however stands out for feeling especially awful in bad matchups, if shes behind.
My dear snake girl can get me out of any ELO. And will always defend her on the Boards too even if she deserves a nerf. Don't blame me, blame lux! she freed Sylas! #fklogik
Not fun to play against. When you learn his drill, fun goes out of the window. He can also just stall the lane.
Not fun to play against as a melee. If its a good Quinn top lane one trick, fun goes out of the window. She can stall too and roam better. She recieved several nerfs, it is still good and can cheese if picked correctly and played properly. I like the Valor jokes tho.
