Finding your niche.

You know, its kind of a nice feeling when you are finally able to figure out what you specifically are supposed to be playing in order to really climb that ladder.

In the past, I've tried every role out there, and I've noticed that I've really only had success on one of them: Support. But not just support in the bot lane, making sure the ADC stays alive, but in every other lane too. My best marksman by far is Ashe, a utility heavy, "supportive" marksman. In the mid lane, I've normally played Lissandra, Ahri, and Annie. With the exception of Ahri (shes just strong and easy to play), my mid laners are "supportive" in their own right. Even when I first started playing League, my goto mid laner was Morgana, a very heavy "supportive" laner (of whom is now predominantly a support). In the top lane, one of my most played roles, I could never really get the hang of top laners that are meant to carry, but anyone great in a teamfight is right up my alley. Gnar (of whom I have the most mastery points on right now), Sion, Garen.......pretty much any super tank. That said, I could easily win lane up top, but most of the time, another lane would get completely demolished (normally bot), and I would end up being the only reasonable threat on the team.

And then we actually have the support role, a role I've always excelled in, but never realized it until recently. I normally went for Braum until I picked up Nami, which I am now consistently getting S performances on her. I've even been able to pick Leona back up for whenever we need a good tank. I even played my very first game of Janna support, with the only other game I've played with her being an ARAM years ago, and we absolutely kicked ass! Sure, she's easy to play, but my very first real performance, even with an easy champ, should not produce an S performance.

Finally, we have the jungle, which has easily been my worst role historically. Put me on a carry jungler, and we're doomed to lose. But put me on a jungler who is quite supportive in their own right, and we may actually win the damn thing. Amumu, Sejuani, Zac..........with a bit of Hecarim in the past.

And now, we have Ivern. I purchased him when he came out, played a couple games with him, but then stepped away since jungle hasn't treated me well in the past. But now that people have Ivern figured out, and he's actually quite strong right now, and may continue to be, I've picked him back up....

...and I have yet to lose a game with him.......in normals or ranked.

I'm not meant to carry my team. I'm meant to be the backbone, the one behind the scenes pushing everyone forward. You'll never see me get a penta, but just know that that Yasuo is only snowballing because of me. You're falling behind because I wouldn't let you get a kill, and was able to miraculously turn a fight around that should have been an easy win for you. If you're going to kill my ADC, just know it'll be one hell of a fight for you, and in the end it will either cost you too much, or my ADC came out of it with a double kill, making what looked like a good decision on your part look more like a fool's errand. Oh, you got a kill up top from a gank? Well thanks, cause you just gave me and my team a free dragon.

It's a good time to play League right now.

TL;DR

I happened to find my niche as a supportive player, but not just in the support role, but every other role as well. I'm currently kicking ass and taking names with Nami and Ivern, and will continue to do so until I can't climb any further. I simply wanted to share this.

Any of you out there happen to find your niche as a player? Are you meant to carry, trying to be the next faker, and decimating the entire enemy team? Or more like me, and be that backbone your team needs? Perhaps something in between? You have the potential to carry, but can also be a good support for your team when needed (something I'm calling a teamfighter). I'm interested in hearing other people's stories.
