It's Time For Election Day! (Dragon Suggestion/Discussion!)

It’s Election Day for the Dragons! It seems a lot of the posts I’ve seen and read are quite a few people not happy with the amount of RNG (no not the LPL team!) dragons can stir up now following the introduction of the new elemental dragons! I personally love the idea of all of them, but I can also agree that some of the time the RNG can get quite annoying! That and we all know at one point it was mentioned by someone in Riot that you guys wanted to stray away from the path of RNG!

As a now five year summoner of the rift I enjoy all the changes and come to them with a very open mind! However I feel what you guys tried with the dragons while a good idea could use some work, and thus comes my random idea for an election in game!

Now before you go about and question this. The election has some very fine rules set below for the spawn time and just how it will go about!

Introduction:

New Map Item: Dragon Spires

The Dragon Spires are colored with the color of their respected Dragon. See the image legend below as to where they would be placed. PS: Sorry for my sucky paint legend and idea. I'm not good at it, and I believe in the riot guys to take this idea if they do and make it beautiful and seamlessly fit into the rift!

Here is my example of where they should be and the order!!

These spires will automatically spawn at 0:45 seconds at the beginning of the game, and thereafter every dragon has been slain up until the spawning of Elder Dragon at which point the spires will no longer appear.

The Spires work much like Skarner Crystal Spires. Champions must select the respective spire and capture it. At which point their vote will be locked in for the next Dragon to spawn, and below is me trying to explain it as best I can!

• Spire Rules (Spawning) ------- Will rise from the water 45 seconds at the beginning of the game. And 45 seconds after all dragons have been slain expect before, and after Elder Dragon. ------- Will remain up until 45 seconds BEFORE any elemental dragons spawn . ------- Voting is disabled on the spires 1 second before they despawn. ------- Spires knock any wards away from them if the wards are placed ontop of their locations. They will never knock wards over the wall, or toward the Dragon pit center. • Spire Rules (Capturing) ------- Must channel your vote uninterrupted for 1.5 seconds, and can only be done INSIDE of the dragon pit. ------- Upon beginning your vote channel units are revealed briefly on the minimap and through the fog of war for .25 seconds. ------- Being hit by any source of damage or crowd control will automatically cancel the channeling. • Spire Rules (After Capturing) ------- Upon the finish of the casting the spire will glow at its first level. Each vote afterworld will cause another level to glow on the spire. Maximum level vote of 5. ------- Player votes can be changed every 30 seconds. ------- 10GP Reward ------- The spire with the most votes on it will always win, but only if it was a spire voted on by the last team to have captured the most recent spire. (ie: Red team voted for red, but blue team came afterwards and voted for green. The last team to have voted will always win. So blue team wins.) ------- A spire must have at least two votes on it for the winning team to win, and spawn their desired dragon. ------- In case of a tie the two types will be chosen based on if it has or hasn’t already spawned. Dragons that have yet to spawn in the tie will always win. ------- In case of both have either spawned, or not spawned the first dragon to have been voted for by the team will always win. ------- At the end of voting if the standard prerequisite has not been met by any of the spires. The dragons will spawn based on the spires locations in a clockwise motion. Ocean, Wind, Earth, Infernal. In that order. ------- Voting is persistent through that cycle of voting, and until the dragon is slayed and a new cycle begins.

So above it looks pretty complicated, but after you read it.. I think it’s very simple! You get 1.5 seconds to channel your vote! Which means teams must commit to protecting allies, and also setting up vision to ensure they can vote safely! Also keeping control of the pit afterwards will always be contested as an enemy team can force their way in and take control of the votes!

Because your voting is persistent it works very simple. During a cycle it is the time inbetween a dragon being slain and one being spawned when the spires erect. So if the red team votes for infernal 5-0 and then at least two blue team members come in to change the vote to their side then they will win. However red team only needs then for one member to go back and revote for infernal or another drake to gain control of voting once more. This means as long as you have voted during the cycle nothing can change it but yourself. Therefore multiple players do not have to return to the pit to recast their vote. Only a single member needs to recast in order for your team to regain control so long as at least one spire for said team has the minimum 2 vote prerequisite to actually win a vote.

To sum it up think of these much like the surge buffs on crystal scar in terms of capturing or Skarner Crystal spires. Instead of buffs however you are getting a vote on what spawns next. The last team to have voted last will always win the voting, or it will come down to if the prerequisites are met, and if not it will go in the cycle given above. So I hope this helps make Dragon a much more long term focused objective, and even could very well help shift away from even pros wishing to laneswap. Because doing such could very well give the bot-side team a distinct advantage and allow them to quickly get Dragons rolling in their favor and in their desired pattern!

I’m sorry if this may seem confusing, but I put a lot of thought into just how I could get this to work on the rift! I’d love any general feedback and ideas tossed my way!
