Am I considered a "Troll"

So I was in queue for ranked today, I got adc. I was happy, until someone told me to take Heal and flash. Now, I understand that most adc's do take that, but find that I like to go teleport and ignite better. I told him this, yet he continued to argue with me. Wanna know what happened? He banned the adc I had chosen, and then dodged because I wouldn't take those spells. Now, i thought to myself "Well that was rude, I'll just move on." Nope. The guy proceeded to message me about how my runes were all over the place, and that it was because of people like me that make league bad. That it was because of people like me that make it hard to climb out of elo. Now I gt rally angry, because I feel that was totally uncalled for. I don't afk, I try to play meta, I try not to feed, I honestly try my best. yet he has the audacity to say that it's my fault people cant rank up. He even said I was a troll. Is this true, because I don't think it is.

Disagreeing with gameplay decisions doesn't make you a troll, but most people expect you to stick close to the meta and use tried-and-true methods in Ranked play. If you can make something different work for you that's great, but there are good reasons everyone else plays a certain way (the meta) and it's a good idea to take them under advisement to play your best in Ranked since it's the competitive mode where everyone is trying to win. When you do something completely different it looks like you're not trying or are even trying to sabotage your own team, especially when you perform poorly with it. It's a team game, so work with them, not against.

  • Are you a troll for this? No.
  • Could you do better by adopting normal methods? Highly likely.

I don't want to say "Get out of Ranked" because you're free to play how you choose, but don't have fun at the expense of everyone else. I would suggest playing Normals if you'd prefer to play sub-optimally or just need practice.

No you are not a troll for this, but if you are new to the game and the ranked scene, you will find that these are sub-optimal summoner choices for ADCs. The person shouldn't have harassed you over it, but to be fair it was probably his/her "best way" of giving you advice.

Ill provide you some more detailed reasoning why most players would say the summoners you selected are sub-optimal for that lane. You may keep choosing those summoners (it does not make you a troll), however if you want to improve as a player and in the bottom lane it would probably be better to simply mimic what other players are doing since there is a large enough sample size to indicate that "this is effective." You may learn through trial and error if you want in the bottom lane, but you will probably frustrate most of your teammates by doing so in ranked.

  • Heal helps you and your teammate (the support) and it is really important for all-ins. Heal offers an escape (slight speed boost) a self heal and a heal to nearby allies. This are the primary reasons it is chosen over barrier and other summoners by ADCs.
  • Flash is your last hope of an escape. ADCs typically have one escape (I don't know which one you play), but there is a lot of activity in the bottom lane. Of all the lanes and roles flash is probably the most important for the ADC due to nature of the lane they are in. They have two opponents and typically some jungler and mid-lane presence because of the location of the dragons. This is why the support goes in the bottom lane and not another lane. When dragons are not that important pro players frequently lane swapped with the top laner. This happened often just prior the significant dragon changes, when rift herald was seen as a more important objective by some because it granted global gold and the dragons did not. Only the first dragon mattered.
  • Ignite is sometimes taken by ADCs that want an early kill. But the champions that will take it are ones that can capitalize on an early kill such as Draven. It is more typical for the support to take ignite if the lane wants to be aggressive since the support often initiates MOST early combat in the bottom lane. It is considered a "selfish" summoner because it DOES NOT help your support like heal.
  • Teleport is good for trying to avoid missing farm early, but typically as the game goes on, it is a summoner to aid in combat. If you are the ADC, you should always be by someone in the mid game or already in combat. Making the summoner relatively weak on the ADC unless you use it to TP for farm. The ADC wants to be in a lane and if he/she uses TP to aid in combat it can create a couple of problems. The first is that the ADC comes alone, the ADC is a squishy target, even if it is a 2v1 they may still die easily from just their positioning. If they TP into combat against an assassin, to help in a skirmish, the assassin may be able to simply turn on the ADC and kill them quickly instead of maybe dying to who they are were currently fighting. The ADC also leaves the support (alone presumably) in lane to do this, which could lead to the death of the support.
  • If the ADC uses TP only for farm, it is sub-optimal since your team as a whole should be able to manage waves without it (regardless if you are winning or losing). You and your support always want to walk to lane TOGETHER, and back TOGETHER. This way neither of you are left in the lane alone against 2 other opponents. They may try to kill you when you TP to lane or call the jungler down for a gank right after you TP back for farm. Better players know how to manage the wave and know when to back, TP acts as a crutch to developing that skill. Typically it is the top laner that takes TP (where tanks go) a jungler will look to see if they used TP to return to lane. After TP is used a gank is MORE likely to occur because if the enemy top laner and jungler kill the top laner they will miss the wave, have used a summoner, and will have to return back to lane allowing time to take an objective. Tanks, however are less likely to die in a turret dive however since they are more durable. They can't be bursted down as easily. But an ADC that TPs to lane for farm CAN be doved and killed pretty easily without help.

This is a more detailed list of reasons why those two summoners are not chosen by ADCs very often. If you really feel that you still play better with the other two summoners then you can keep selecting them (no one is going to stop you), but you should be prepared to be able to justify your choices to your team. If you can't (or they won't listen) you are likely to annoy them and they may play worse because of it.

I play as a support as a secondary role. If my ADC took those two summoners to lane I would think two things: (1) They are not a very good ADC and are new to the role and (2) That they are going to be unable to help me if there is an early all-in because they do not have heal.

I would also think the ADC is not too considerate of the support (which happens frequently), despite it being my role to help you stay a live in early laning.

It is sub optimal

But apparently you tilted that guy off the planet by not being the perfect player.

He needs to go to a therapist because that is uncalled for behavior.

My response to such commentary is this: "You have two spell slots, use them wisely."

If some other player feels a need for a particular spell, but not enough to actually use a spell slot for it, that's what you call foolish.

I rarely ever play marksman and when I do, it is in a solo lane so I can do what I like. Even then, I get treated like Hitler on hanukkah day. Same goes for my 'other' junglers Ziggs Viktor which got me out of silver 5 back into gold after a week and three days of playing more than just 2-3 games a day. (It's summer, don't blame me for having literally nothing to do.)
