I never got why Twisted Fate ADC never became a thing...

It seems to be perfectly viable, I've done it several times and had no problem, but for some reason I get more hate when I go twisted fate ADC than when I go Soraka ADC or Sona mid. I guess nobody has done it on a professional level, so until then it's just a "troll pick," but why is it hated so much?

He is very poorly optimized for an AP character, dude isn't worth a damn without a lich bane and even then he only hits once after a spell. His W scales 100% off AD but only 50% off AP, and his only real AP attack is a single skill shot. And having spells scaling off AP yet still being an ADC is nothing new, look at Corki, Ezreal, Tristana, Miss Fortune, or kog'Maw. Speaking of his spells, he has a rather low mana pool compared to how much his spells cost. It's supposedly off-set by his blue card. But that has a cooldown and only restores a small fraction more than the cost to actually use the spell.(at level 5 it costs 100 mana to use the spell and restores 150 mana)

I've heard that his AA's range is too short, but his range is nothing less than average, he fits nicely into the same range as most ADCs. Personally, I think that people believe that an ADC with a targeted 2 second stun is just unfair on everyone else. So, people pretend he's a mage.

I guess I'll just have to wait until Korea beats the shit out of everyone else with a Twisted Fate ADC before people stop rage quitting every time I pick Twisted Fate as my ADC out of a crippling fear of success.

because you are sacrificing aa range for a stun that is not even on demand. He has about no ad scaling outside the w aoe. The only reason his w says 100% ad is because he is autoing and his physical auto damage is reduced to 0 for technical purposes. You also have no mobility and once again your hard cc is not on demand.

Twisted fate is a perfectly fine mage. He has amazing wave clear, great map pressure and a lot of aoe damage for team fights.

He has a few problems. The first is relatively weak laning. He's extremely easy to push around and abuse because he's very squishy and has no mobility or immediate disengage potential. He also doesn't have much damage potential early on. Having only 525 range also hurts a lot (most carries have 550. The low range is only possessed by Graves, Quinn, Lucian, Sivir and a Kog without his W on).

Another reason is his lack of damage. His abilites quickly fall off in damage, and his only steroid gives him only 30% attack speed (off of a pretty normal base amount) and a pretty weak amount of magic damage. Again, 525 range is a significant liability.

His only real advantage is having a stun, and that doesn't really make up for his weaknesses. It's not even good for initiation because of the short range, which is a significant weakness compared to Varus or Ashe ults. If a pro team wants a stun, they can just pick it up on other champions and rely on an AD carry to be a damage source and to be safe.

As a final point, if a pro team wanted to play AD TF, why wouldn't I just play AD Kennen instead? He has a much higher base attack speed, he has a significantly stronger lane, and he can aoe stun enemies. TF has the teleportation over him, but in terms of damage and utility, Kennen is generally just going to be stronger. AD Kennen has seen pro play. AD TF is unlikely to anytime in the near future.

As for why people hate it so much: We've all seen someone feed horribly trying to do it. I've played with and against AD TF before, and I've never won a lane with him on my side and I've never lost a lane against him. It's the same idea as the hatred for when old Nidalee went support. The champion may technically be able to work in that role, but it's inferior to other picks, and it's usually seems like it is just done by people who want to be different regardless of whether or not it actually works.

Mage TF can have a much better impact by having an early level advantage from midlane translate into early ganks. There is a lot of room to create snowball situations with a teleport into a stun and a decent (not amazing, decent) amount of burst damage.

Actually, early season 1 (back when he had a global teleport) most players thought ad TF was the better playstyle.

BC ad tf was nerfed into the ground? Tf is way too outranged and out mobilitied (in lane)

better waveclear on a mage that works best in the midlane better burst on a champion that works best as an assassin as an adc his range is too low and he has no other abilities to help being an adc.
