Bot/Supp question

So I just started playing and have been using Jinx bot lane. With the new MM I have to select a secondary role. I was guessing I should go with Supp since I have played bot lane. Is that a smart idea and if so who should I learn as Supp, or should I learn a diff role to broaden my horizons so I can be more useful if I can't get bot lane.

If you want to learn to support I would say Taric, He offers a stun (1.2 - 1.6 seconds), a heal that gives you the same life you heal your ally for ( 60 - 220 ) or +40% if you heal your self, also he can give an aura that gives bonus armour that is 12% of Tarics armour, and his ult gives him +dmg/ap and aura that give half dmg/ap to allies for 10 seconds. Some stuff may have been left out but you should have a fun time.

I play Supp/Top end of the spectrum and way different champion styles, but if you want to stay in the same lane all the power to you. As for "smart idea" just think of support as an amplifier to an guitar. If the guitar is being played well, kept in good shape, and has good tunes the amp (supp) will make it that much louder and so on. Now, if the guitar in question is broken, missing strings, and begging to be salvaged then ...........yea. You get the point. Depending on your Elo, support is strong or very limited. If your adc is overly passive, no matter what play you setup it will be useless. Since you play adc you should know how the average adc will think and work well in terms of synergy.

Supports that are friendly to newer supports: Leona E, land on them, Q for stun, W to help you not die. Big ass stun/slow circle as an ult. Very cookie cutter tank supp. Taric Passive aura that gives armor, a heal, and a point click stun. Ult is going man mode. Janna A shield that also gives AD, a point click slow, and tornado skillshot that can knock up, and a huge peel for ult Soraka You heal, you can silence with an aoe, you poke a bit, then a karthus ult that heals your team instead of damage.

Once you get a feel for supporting, try the more common "play maker" supports that can set up ganks and kills very easily but are mechanically more difficult.

Kayle nasus level slow decent heal also buffs movespeed has a passive exhaust and invulnerable ult to throw on adc Morgana longest stun in game has 2 of em to boot and spellshield to stop blitz pulls/thresh hooks or any stuns really she also prevents the dragons knockback on the jungler from occuring.

Support is a smart idea if you want to learn your lane even better, but going by the word on the forum its not a good idea if you intent to play your primary role, choosing support second means you are likely to play support all the time due to the few number of players that play support.

Well It's all up to you if you want to specialize in 1 area of the Map or every now & then play all the roles to gain exp from all the lanes & other Roles.

I main Bottom Support 90% of the time during my gameplay, the 10% is divided among the other roles just I stay familiar with them. But now a days 70% of my gameplay is Support. I'm getting off topic, my point is its good to try other roles out & see which ones your good at & practice using those roles if your main choice is not up for grabs.
