@Riot: Sudden Impact.
There has never been more damage in the game than there is now thanks to runes. And then, alongside all of the new flat, scaling and % damage in runes and keystones, you decided to also add Sudden Impact. A rune that even amplifies the amp damage.
That was hands-down the biggest mistake of the entire season.
More damage is fine and dandy, but amplifying the amplification of damage significantly without it being a keystone or item is not. Sudden Impact's power level is keystone-worthy and does not deserve to be a rune at all. This is nothing but an extremely unhealthy solution to the assassin class.
Nerfing marksmen and crit items was good and also very necessary, but one of the ways you decided to nerf them was through their base armor. If anyone reading this is wondering why marksmen are played less than ever now it's because Sudden Impact and a single Lethality item enables assassins and non-assassins alike to ignore almost half of a marksman's base armor by midgame. They ignore an egregious amount any popular ranged botlane champion's armor as well, not just marksmen, as they all share a similar low base armor. That is extremely unhealthy and is reason enough to remove Sudden Impact from League of Legends.
1.) Remove Sudden Impact. Whatever replaces it can certainly do damage; just don't let it penetrate resistances in any way, shape or form. Free flat penetration given to the class that only cares about damage on the squishiest targets has broken the game and non-assassins abuse the rune too.
2.) Add more strong Lethality items for assassins. There could be a cool one for hybrids. One could also have relevant lifesteal or health and resistances; there's a lot of flexibility here. Good, tailor-made items are what assassins truly deserve, not runes that break their kits like Sudden Impact which should be removed from the game entirely.
