So... why was ap removed? It's supposed to be a hybrid item...name kind of lost its purpose now.

It wasn't really an hybrid item. item 3078 is meant for AD champions, item 3100 for AP champions, and item 3025 for tank champions.

The reason why Trinity Force had AP was because of item 3057, which by itself had AP because it is an old item, introduced in a time which every champion had AP ratios, even if they would be AD. Thus, Sheen had AP to allow the AD champions that were meant to use this item to deal more damage with their abilities (and in turn, use them to proc the passive).

Trinity Force is still meant for AD, just look at its overall stats. AD, attack speed, crit, and the passive doing physical damage. It sucks that Trinity Force had its AP removed in favor of more crit, but lets be honest, the AP itself was rarely relevant for the champions using it.

Because riot hates AP champs and anything that has to do with them apparently

30 AP is literally peanuts. Besides, those champions buy Triforce for the Spellblade procs on top of the Rage bonus, not the AP.

The 200% Base AD Spellblade proc is the big reason to buy Triforce, and that much didn't change at all. In fact, with 10% CDR in the mix, you can proc that Spellblade more often.

Sure, it could use a bit more AS and MS if it needs a bit of kick back, but 30 AP was nothing to write home about. As for the crit, the ONLY reason its crit chance got increased was because of crit normalization and its change to Zeal. Before, you would get your 10% crit chance and have a 1 in 10 chance of critting. Now, with the minimum 20% crit on upgraded crit items, that becomes a 1 in 5 chance. It makes crits easier to plan for and less about blind luck. (There still IS a bit of luck involved, but much less so.)
