From last i heard, riven is terrible as a champion and is one of the worst top laners unless you are extreamly skilled, but another question i have about her is exactly what level of trashyness is her if she builds pretty much full tank?(except for like a titanic hydra) im guessing that she will do absolutely no damage and at the same time not be as tanky as most other tanks. but what is everyone elses opinion?

Riven has a Knock up, An AOE stun, Heavy scaling shield on Low CD, 3 dashes, Auto attack enhance passive, AD ult steroid, And a execute on missing health.
Yeah its kinda true a lot of first timers play her and lower her win rate. That goes for ANY melee champion that doesnt build primarily tank. That you generally see those ''fighter'' champions have a higher skill curve.
But nah. Riven will always be broken af. Play the champ you enjoy and you'll climb ranked no matter what.
She's fine as a tank. Most likely one of the best core builds for her currently is something like

How is riven?
Suffering pretty hard from the item changes this season.
From seasons 3~5 AD itemization and especially AD Caster itemization synergized with Riven better than it did most marksman and fighters. You could get 55%+30 armor penetration with Black Cleaver and Last Whisper in her core build, allowing armor penetration to offer a really impressive %DPS bonus comparable to IE critical strikes on marksman.
Now armor pen itemization is awful (and in regards to Riven: Cleaver is much more of a tanky DPS item now and Last Whisper/Lord's is more of a marksman item), you need to commit 4 item slots to armor pen to get a worse DPS boost than you could with 2, Marksman itemization is comparably much better now than it was in past seasons, and Fighter itemization is actually a thing that exists now, being so strong a lot of assassins are choosing to itemize with the swanky tanky DPS fighter items over their intended build. Max AD on items is lower now than it has been in any other season as well.
Unfortunately for Riven, Riven doesn't scale very well with the new fighter items or the new marksman items, seeing a pretty large nerf to her overall interaction with items. Pair that with some nerfs from the community whining about Riven nonstop in season 5 and she's not in a great spot. Her kit's power is on the lower side and her itemization choices are pretty sub-par.
If Riot actually introduces some solid Assassin items on the AD side of things Riven will see a solid boost in her performance, as current itemization is her major weakness ATM.
