"We agree dynamic queue standings don't reflect pure individual skill as well as a solo ladder"

PrometheS-_

It's nonsense. Clumping every queue configuration together makes no sense for ranked ladder since solo to 5-man are different skills and experiences (plus possible voice chat/pre-game advantages). No matter how hard you try to adjust it, it's inherently a broken system if you take competitive play seriously. There is simply no other way around it. That's the problem for me. It's not just unfair matchmaking, it's that it lacks validity as a ranking system since it doesn't force consistency in the experience despite putting everything on a single ladder.

****Before season 6: ****Riot's concerns about the game and their answer to them.

Concern #1: League is a team game, and we should do something to emphasize this aspect in our client. This is actually accurate: while League is a team-oriented game, it only feels so in championships (CS, LCS, IEM and worlds). While playing solo/duo ranked, the game feels way different. The assumption that we should encourage (and not force, the wording is important :')) people to play as a team makes sense.

Concern #2: People are telling us they want to play competitively with their friends, but never succeed gathering 5 people together for team ranked. Again, very true. As a ranked team player, I can tell that even with a somewhat stable team, getting everyone online at the same hour to play some team rankeds was a pain in the arse, and we often ended up not playing at all, or going in ARAM/normal game.

Riot's solution: let's simply allow people to queue in ranked with however many people they want. This way, the game feels more team-oriented and people can play with their friends.

Sad thing is: this _solution _doesn't solve either of the above concerns.

**About the first one: **· matching a 3-man premade with 2 solo players against two 2-man premades and one solo player, for example, doesn't feel any more team-oriented at all. Groups have a tendency to play with their entourage instead of going out of their way to reach solo players, so this system actually raises more barriers between players.

About the second one: · The ranking has lost every meaning it had: you can't rank solo players in the same ladder as 5-man-team players and expect it to have any meaning whatsoever. League is a COMPLETELY different gamewhether you play it alone or as a team, and you wouldn't rank people playing different games in the same ladder now, would you? -------------------------Solo Accomplishment------------------------- Gbay mentioned that with DQ, solo players feel, and are, less impactful overall to the outcome of their games. Socrates agreed, and stated that this is a necessity of more team-oriented gameplay, which Riot is looking to achieve. That was painful to hear. You guys might have plans to improve upon this with perhaps a nice little badge or a splash art border, but I don't see how you can possibly solve the actual issue; solo players feel left out because they are left out. That's just not cool. Pre-mades historically have had many options; 5-man ranked, ARAM, blind, and rotation queues. They don't also need SQ to be declared as their territory as well. You have millions of solo players, and the implementation of DQ inherently goes against their general enjoyment of the game. I don't think this is something that can be remedied outside of a pure SQ, as we solo players don't want a badge or icon or whatever, we want to be impactful in every game we queue up in. Riot seems to think that frustration with dynamic queue will disappear when premades have the same win rate as solo queue players. If you've ever had 5 people dive you under tower at 7 minutes, you'll understand why that's not the case. Just the idea that you mightbe up against a 5 man premade makes any coordinated action they do extremely frustrating, even if they're all solo queue players.

The video really shows they are missing a huge point that is skewing all of their opinions and viewpoints: They assume ALL players want to play with friends or other players. I don't play with friends, I don't have friends that play this game, I don't play this game to make friends, I like to play this game alone - these are HUGE points that a lot of players who are calling for Solo Q to come back. Riot has completely screwed themselves and I don't want to quit this game but ranked is a really big part of this. It's really just a sad situation to be in. The player base has been screaming until we are hoarse and Riot just isn't listening.
