This is embarrassing but I don't know how to build items correctly

I've been playing this game for a while now(a few years), and I'd like to say ive improved a lot. My farm and K/D/A's arent as horrible as they used to be at least. But over these years I still haven't figured out how to build item sets on my own. I always use premade or recommended sets and I dont know how to know what Items to build for a specific team comp, or know what to build based on how the game is going. I use the same exact build for every game and I think its holding me back. Im a jhin main. Can someone help?

item 3095 item 3031 item 3094 item 3046 item 3072 item 3009 is what I usually get..... unless I feel spicy item 3031 item 3031 item 3031 item 3031 or if I need item 3139 then i could change out BT with scimitar

Just make your own sets and add situational items that you can substitute with what you're usually buying. item 3033 vs any kind of healing. item 3179 potential vision denial or cheap AD when playing from behind. item 3139 Hard CC removal. item 3156 MR + magic dmg shield. item 3026 Survivability. item 3036 vs a lot of armor.

Honestly as an ADC your build probably changes the least based on the enemy team. You want to rush your core damage items first item 3095 item 3031 item 3094 because you need to be the carry in teamfights, and depending on the situation getting a item 3140 item 3046 item 3026 and or defensive boots may be necessary. But you really just want maximum damage.

as an afterthought you could probably just ask the Jhin mains on reddit, they'd probably be receptive and better able to tell you whats good right now

Go watch some of Kobbe's games. Also, try out different runes. I saw that you play with fleet of footwork. That's good if you want some sustain, but getting electrocute is also another possibility if you want to win a fight in just 2 trades. I personally always felt that fleet of footwork isn't worth it on Jhin, unless if you're on a bad match up, except jhin doesn't really have bad match ups considering his early game is super strong compared to that of the majority of other adcs. Only problem with Jhin is that he naturally pushes harder. So I would much rather take an offensive rune, out-trade the opponent, that way you can take a 3v2 if the enemy jungler comes (or... their lane is so weak that he knows he'd die ganking so he just doesn't gank anymore). You could even try aery for all I care if your only objective is to do 1 auto and then run away. But obviously AA + Q + AA on electrocute is hard to beat in terms of damage.

Hrm... Well... Jhin, I can't help you with. Most champions, you look at what they need to do their job (eg damage, tankiness) and what they need to counter current enemies (tenacity, needed survival, etc). Experiment, see when power spikes occur, and be observant of stat differences.

don't listen to these cucks, you go stormrazor, ie, rapid, pd, lw. the only things that change are you replacing boots if you're getting cucked by assassins and going lw earlier if the enemy tanks are shitting on your whole team.

I don't even use Item Sets. It's good they exist but personally, i know what i'm buying. I do the same with my rune page, i use one page for every champion by changing the page entirely, every time.

But you're right about asking. I know for a fact that there are situations in which lethality jhin is better than crit jhin, but I don't know more than the fact that the two are good depending on the situation. Go ask the question in reddit imo.

A good place to start will be

https://na.op.gg/champion/jhin/statistics/bot

Look at win rates with the different item sets it show, then make an item and rune set just for jhin...

From there you can experiment with situational items like armor/MR...

Best way to learn is to just experiment.
